The Invisible War Profiteer--VP Dick Cheney

You may not see or hear much of him these days.....In fact, try perusing the White House Photos and the Vice President website photos and you won't find a single photo with Cheney and Bush featured in it. What happened to those old photos anyway?

But rest assured, Dick Cheney remains hard at work in the manner he prefers....behind the scenes and out of view of the taxpayer.

Raw Story reports that in 2007, "Cheney's Halliburton stock options rose 3,281% :
An analysis released by a Democratic senator found that Vice President Dick Cheney's Halliburton stock options have risen 3,281 percent in the last year."

RAW STORY reveals:

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) asserts that Cheney's options -- worth $241,498 a year ago -- are now valued at more than $8 million. The former CEO of the oil and gas services juggernaut, Cheney has pledged to give proceeds to charity.

Cheney "agreed" to give the proceeds to charity but he's keeping the stocks which he can sell upon leaving the Vice Presidency for a hefty profit....So will that hard work pay off? The Republicans are going to once again ask that the tax break for Dick Cheney and his cronies in that top bracket get permanent tax cuts.

Way to go Dick Cheney...you are still hard at work protecting the elites, getting nuclear power subsidized by Congress, and pushing the propaganda to try to start another illegal but very profitable war for you with Iran.

In the meantime the American people, Rep. Wexler, and Rep. Kucinich are pleading with the irrelevant Democratic Congress to Impeach Dick Cheney.

We deserve an investigation...let the facts do the talking. Let the facts decide if Dick Cheney should continue to be our Vice President....or not.

Tricky Dick Cheney....The War Profiteer

Cheney deserves the name "Tricky Dick." He profits from wars without the sacrifice. He's never served in our armed forces....because he had "better things to do."

We "hear" that Tricky Dick Cheney is giving all these profits to charity.
But his Haliburton stock has not been given to any charity.

I bet Tricky Dick Cheney is planning on giving the dividends from his stocks to charities during his vice presidential "reign." However, once he's out of office , the stock is in his name to do what he wishes...sell it and/or transfer some to his heirs....and the bulk of the profits is the stock itself....not the dividends.

It's no wonder that Tricky Dick wants to start a war with Iran ASAP....why stop with only a 3,000 percent profit for 2007 when there's much more money to be made? This war profiteering is a gravy train for the Republican corporate elitists....

When will we ever learn? They use misplaced patriotism for ill begotten gains.

There's so much illegal activity stemming from Tricky Dick's office....How can any self-respecting congressman vote against impeaching Tricky Dick? But corporate owned congressman will vote to protect Tricky Dick.

The question you need to ask....is my elected official self-respecting or corporate owned? That will be a key question for 2008 for both Democratic and Republican candidates....

Surprised? Cheney Lied.

While campaigning in 2000, Vice President Cheney told us he was no longer connected with his former employer, Haliburton.

Cheney was on ABC in 2003 repeating his claims,

"I've severed all my ties with the company, gotten rid of all my financial interest. I have no financial interest in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had, now, for over three years." source

But it's reported that Cheney earned a 3000 percent profit off of his Haliburton stock last year.

Cheney earned 44 million dollars while working for Haliburton, a job he obtained after he resigned as Secretary of Defense. Would you be surprized to learn that while Cheney was Secretary of Defense (March 1989 to January 1993) he presided over PRIVATIZING the military and awarding large contracts to the private sector?

An intelligent person has to wonder if the Halliburton job offer was a reward for contracts given out while Cheney was Secretary of Defense. An intelligent person has to ask how the mythical "liberal" US press avoided reporting this story.

According to Wikipedia, "Cheney's net worth, estimated to be between $30 million and $100 million, is largely derived from his post at Halliburton."

Meanwhile, war profiteers are running our country.

There is no draft so the wealthy don't have to fight in these wars. The majority of enlistees are people who have to work for a living. As the economy worsens for middle and lower class people the large army bonuses are assisting the recruitment drive.

While the wealthy elite (or filthy rich) are enjoying the best times in American history, homelessness and hunger have risen dramatically.

If the trend continues, the middle class in America will not survive the current Republican economic policies.

In the upcoming November elections will the American people be diverted by wedge issues (gays, flag burning, immigration)* and once again vote against their financial interests?

*I didn't mention the national security issue...it's become a moot point. If the Republican party cannot protect 80 children in the Republican controlled Congress they surely aren't up to the job of protecting millions of American citizens.

In the meantime, will we the airways continue to spellbind Americans with rehashed updates on the the Ramsey or Peterson murder stories? I'd rather have the media go back and report the stories they missed.

The media uses public airways. Surely they have a duty to report on stories that are important to the American people?
