Where is Riverbend the Baghdad Burning Blogger?

I'm getting anxious. I've visited the Baghdad Burning blog once again and there are no new posts since August 5, 2006.

Riverbend is the Baghdad Burning Blogger "...... I'll meet you 'round the bend my friend, where hearts can heal and souls can mend..."

River became famous and a book was published of her blogs.

Now River is silent. I'm worried that our River may no longer be alive. I sent River an email; I hope I get a reply.

River has posted every month consistently since 8/01/03 except for one lapse in August 2005. River disappeared for an "unannounced" blogging vacation for an eight week period.

I three days it will be 10 weeks since River's last post.

Rivers last post ended with these words:
I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever know just how many hundreds of thousands of Iraqis left the country this bleak summer. I wonder how many of them will actually return. Where will they go? What will they do with themselves? Is it time to follow? Is it time to wash our hands of the country and try to find a stable life somewhere else?

I wonder if she was forced out of her neighborhood, and is a refugee or staying somewhere without internet access. As I'm sure you have read, there is major ethnic cleansing going on, where mixed neighborhoods are being cleaned out of the "other". Maybe that's what happened to Riverbend.

A little more info here. There was a diary on DailyKos back in September:

If you look through the comments, some people were in touch with her publisher, and they have not heard from her. However, they're of the opinion that no news is good news. Apparently, she has fleed Baghdad before to go to the North (I'm assuming Kurdistan). Perhaps that's what she has done now. Surely, the publishers would have been contacted if she had died . . .

I have a source who contacted her publisher today...Oct 12...her publishers are also concerned. This is the longest time frame she has not been in contact with them.

Buzz...Buzz...mosquito

I'm glad to see that you have posted a blog entry asking for info about Riverbend. I started seriously worrying about her after October 1 and there was still no new post.

Riverbend last words from Syria 10/22/07 were: "I cried that night because for the first time in a long time, so far away from home, I felt the unity that had been stolen from us in 2003."

Where is our friend? I miss her so much.
