The only people who are "insane" are those who would read into this discussion the conclusion that the President might "launch[] a nuclear attack against Iran." Nowhere in this commentary does Kristol suggest it, or suggest that it is a possibility.

WoW James...so you think Bush's UN ambassador, Jhn Bolton, is crazy?

He's saying that Bush is going to bomb Iran after the election and before he leaves office....

In this worst case scenario I hope you are right and I'm wrong....

I'm just spreading the "news" of what is being said since the corporate media is not thiking it's wise to get this information out there right now.

To be on the safe side I'm calling Pelosi, Reid, and my Congressman and Senator to let them know that Congress is enabling Bush and Cheney to do whatever they want to do and this needs to stop.

CORRECTION on last statement...

Bolton says that ISRAEL will bomb Iran after the election and before Bush "officially" leaves office.

Now why would Israel do this? To accomplish the Bush Cheney and Israeli game plan...a game plan that the MAJORITY of the American people (and I also believe the MAJORITY OF Israeli's concur) oppose.

So much for participatory democracy in America.

Well, gee, "Mosquito," that looked a lot like Bill Kristol to me, not John Bolton. Now, I don't know exactly what Bolton said (apparently, neither do you), but you'd have to provide actual evidence that what he advocated was "launching a nuclear attack against Iran." If that was was said was that somebody was going to "bomb Iran," that is fundamentally different than "launching a nuclear attack against Iran," and you should --- but probably don't --- know better.

But then again, I should know better than to expect honesty from someone who favors us with the claim that America is a "participatory democracy." We're not. We're a republic. And I wonder whether your comment is merely the sad result of a modern government-school education, or simply from willful ignorance.

It is Billy Kristol but John Bolton has spoken out and "joined" him on the issue...Maybe you should try google?

yeah yeah we are a republic...and being part of a minority I am often thankful for this. But our leaders often talk about democracy and George Bush and his cronies often talks about spreading our American Democracy around the world....he's never uttered a peep about spreading our republican form of government around the war. Funny, I've never heard you (or anyone else) correcting Bush about this. It's easy to refer to democracy when making the point that the American people "should" have a say so for what our federal government does. Especially since we end up stuck with the bill.

I like the idea of a "participatory democracy" with the safeguards for minorities that the Republic aspect brings....There is a wonderful participatory democracy movement emerging in Chiapas with the Zapatistas and they are "safeguarding" the rights of everyone in this process.

Our technology makes more participation from the American people possible and I believe this is a great idea that we should be using to make our country 'greater.' It would be great if the American people would once again be represented in the U.S. Congress that is basically controlled by the corporations and the wealthy elite at this time. This is why campaign finance reform and publicly financed elections are not partisan issues.

But of course some folks will resist change of any type...you know the kind...they want to drill for oil everywhere and continue driving their SUV's b/c they don't believe in global warming....
d'uh...and of course they get their info from the corporate lamestream media.
