Helen Thomas challenges Obama

Bush has managed to set the bar so so low....I'm almost "thrilled" that Obama called upon Helen Thomas and didn't simply ignore or simply forget to answer her second question. However, he did NOT answer the second question. He skillfully evaded the obvious truth that any knowledgeable American already knows....yes Israel has Nukes and then he cut her off from asking the all important follow up.

We need more journalists like Helen Thomas in the room so they will continue to push for answers to the tough questions.

Hopefully Helen will keep asking the question until Obama either answers the question or if Obama decides to ignore Helen (ala Bush). I'm hoping he will end up answering the question. Many of us are hoping Obama will rise to the challenge and steer our nation to a more honest discussion that doesn't avoid the elephant in the room.

The bottom line is that Obama will need to confront many issues pertaining Israel if he is going to live up to his promise. I'm hoping that it's a matter of timing and not simply a sign of being tied in to the thinking of the powerful elites good club.

Of course he's not going to answer that question. For one thing, its probably classified information. Secondly, while Israel PROBABLY has nukes, there is no evidence that the other countries have them. But it would be foolhardy to actually say anything to that effect as the respective countries would object. Helen Thomas, the "so-called journalist" is nothing more than a rabble rouser and could have used her time to ask questions on a topic that actually could be answered and was of concern to Americans. Ask Obama more details on his foreign policy intentions, not on speculation about which he can't answer.

If you think Helen Thomas is a "so called" journalist I'd be interested in which corporate media lap dog in the White House Press Room "impresses" you.

Personally, I wish we had LOTS of rabble rousers questioning all the lies and propaganda that the Bush Admiinstration used to illegally invade Iraq....among other things.

Actually, NONE of the press, especially the White House Press, impresses me.

Helen used to propagandize quite often. She wouldn't so much as question Bush as throw out a political statement, forcing the spokesman or Bush to either agree or defend it. Based on HER premise or political outlook. Kind of like this....

Think about it Cargosquid...Helen may really be the best of the worst.....especially since there is no one in the room except for stenographers...we need watchdogs not lapdogs....

Since we are confronted with a lamestream press maybe all of us should financially support independent journalists who don't cut anyone slack....like Amy Goodman of Democracy NOW.
