Iraq Demands Deadline Date for U.S. Troops to Withdraw

According to the AP:

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Monday no security agreement with the United States could be reached unless it included a "specific deadline" for the withdrawal of all American troops from Iraq.

George Bush has always stated that if Iraq asked us to leave we would leave. Just another Republican lie.

The Gathering of the Eagles....

This group should probably change the name to The Gathering of the Turkeys. Despite a nationwide plea to come to Washington to counterdemonstrate against Americans who want us to withdraw from Iraq....it looks like approximately 50 folks showed up. Reminds me of the group of us we gathered up to "greet" Ashcroft when he came to Norfolk a few years back....and we were local and put our group together at the last minute.

This group has never held their own independent march because they "know" that the MAJORITY of the American people want OUT of Iraq....They simply try to whip on the extreme right wing neocon base with lies that the Vietnam Memorial is going to be attacked in order to get some of them in a frenzy. The folks that want the U.S. out of Iraq is not an extremist movement it's middle America that wants out of Iraq. You can attend one major demonstration in D.C. against the Iraq Occupation and you'll see families marching together....

It's too bad that the America people are being ignored....but as more and more folks join together (and this includes many moderate Republicans) our voices will get louder. The people won't tolerate the government continuing to ignore us.if it was we would already be out of Iraq.

New Survey: Iraqis Want a Speedy U.S. Exit

According to the Editor and Publisher:

The latest new polls state that 74% of the Shiites and 91% of the Sunnis want the US to leave Iraq within a year. A "much-respected" organization--The World Public Opinion--conducted the survey.

By a wide margin, both groups believe U.S. forces are provoking more violence than they're preventing -- and that day-to-day security would improve if we left. Support for attacks on U.S. forces now commands majority support among both Shiites and Sunnis.

Both groups believe the US presence creates more violence.
