The Incumbent Dems are a HUGE Disappointment

Hopefully the newly elected Dems will be able to shape up the Democratic party.

Right now the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer are embracing the Republican's agenda in this lame duck Congress. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Senator Harry Reid doesn't allow the Bush agenda pusher Joseph Lieberman to set the Democratic agenda in the Senate.

Reid says that Gates will be a "shoo-in" for his nomination. So much for the seriousness they are taking for their role of oversight and accountability of the current White House. This appointment should be seriously assessed and take some time to do it...especially given Gates past record with the Iran Contra Scandal. They need to know that they are installing a Secretary of Defense who will stand up to VP Dick Cheney.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is saying he will accommodate continuing to pay for Bush's endless invasion of Iraq and will even go along with temporarily increasing troop numbers.

Texas Democrat Jim Hightower hit the nail on the head when he stated so long ago that it would be nice to have two parties in Washington DC

I believe it's not too soon for concerned Americans to start creating a third party and flushing ALL the incumbent DEMS and REPUBLICANS down the nearest toilet if they continue their business as usual.

I can assure the Dems of one thing....this will be the last victory they will have for a long, long time if they proceed as they have in the past. The grassroots will not give them any more energy or time until they "show us the 'results'!!"

I understand your frustration, Mosquito. I also wanted Gates to only be confirmed in the new Senate. In defense of Reid, I think the idea is we need to get Rumsfeld the hell out of there as quick as possible. But I would have rather had him grilled by our new Senate.

There is indeed a fight going on within the Democratic party. The media sides with the DLC wing as well as the GOP over any populist or leftward move. Unfortunately, that translates to more of the same. We're going to have to be vigilant and hold our leaders accountable. However, let's wait until they actually take power and list their agenda before we condemn. They're doing this "bipartisanship" thing right now, but we'll see how long that lasts.

I'm trying to be patient beach mon...:) I still have lots of hope for the new congress...but i was hoping the establishment Dems would protect us better during this interim period....I read later this afternoon that Bill Dodd is introducing a bill to "fix" Bush's bill...so I haven't given up.

But I think we need to blog and worry ALL of them up on the hill and keep them honest...

And continue thinking of our third, fourth, multi party options....b/c this country would be better off with more choices...

Aren't you used to Democrats breaking campaign promises yet?

Insider....LOL you are so funny.

The Republicans take the trophy for breaking campaign promises. They are the best at spinning lies....

I have ZERO trust in the current manifestation of the Republican party.

My trust ration for new democrats Jim Webb and Jon Tester are high...but they will have to perform well. There are a few incumbent Dems that I really like....but Harry Reid is not among them.

Insider...you don't seem to be aware of the axiom
"Actions speak louder than words."
