A staunch Bush ally, Australia's conservative Prime Minister John Howard suffered a humiliating defeat Saturday. The new prime minister, Labor Party head Kevin Rudd, ran on pledges to sign the Kyoto Treaty and withdraw Australia's troops from Iraq. Howard one of President Bush's staunchest allies. (Source)
