Why is it that what needs to be on the table is not? When health care was debated the best solution to our problem (single payee system) was not allowed on the table. Now with the deficit being the concern of the bailed out Wall Street Bankers (these folks with the golden parachutes and government bailouts are not concerned about creating jobs) the out of control military budget is not allowed on the table.
You have to wonder if the goal of these Wall Street Bankers and multinational corporations is to have a nation of peons and peasants to do there bidding and to hell with the middle class.

Repeal the "stimulus" packages and you'll save trillions. Kill the bailouts and you'll save more.
Just think that if a tax holliday for one year....no taxes at all on anyone, we would be 2.5 trillion in deficits....but we would have probably 2.5% unemployment. Now we have, substantially, 15-19% unemployment and a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit, that is projected to continue for years.
Instead of just cutting the military budget, lets put the ENTIRE budget on the table and force Congress in debating what stays and what goes.
Cargosquid...what planet are you living on? When has the military budget been seriously looked at to trim the fat? The problem is that there is NOT an "Instead of just cutting the military budget...." The military budget is HUGE because it is a sacred cow with monied interests sucking our treasury dry.....
Domestic spending has been cut to the bone and instead of laying off teachers, fireman, police etc the Pentagon has GOT to learn to budget, have responsible accounting and stop doing back door deals that make a few folks very very rich....
If the school systems were told to cut their budgets by 25% without laying off any teachers they could get it done.Im sick of these school systems saying we are going to have to lay off teachers because of budget cuts that is pure BS the administration is the places the cuts should be made they have grown out of control in the last 30 years.
Domestic spending has been cut to the bone? Do you mean state budgets, the ones that can't print money? The federal budget, including the military, has nothing to do with that.
And you apparently don't remember the military budget cuts under Carter or Clinton. Carter butchered the military budget. Clinton just used "the peace dividend" and the cuts weren't horrible. Just a alot.
Cargosquid the US spends more on military spending than the rest of the world combined and WHEN has the military budget been seriously put on the chopping block....especially within the last two decades (it didn't happen under clinton...domestic cuts were more severely cut than the military every time!
