A ThinkProgress analysis of press coverage by the three major U.S. cable news networks — CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News — from March 14 to March 18 finds that Bahrain received only slightly more than ten percent as many mentions as Libya and that Yemen received only six percent as many mentions as Libya:
Libya: Libya was mentioned 9,524 times by the major cable news networks.
Bahrain: Bahrain was mentioned 1,587 times by the major cable news networks.
Yemen: Yemen was only mentioned 599 times by the major cable news networks.
The lack of coverage of the situation in Bahrain and Yemen isn’t disturbing just because the atrocities being committed there merit coverage. It’s especially alarming because, unlike Libya, both are close U.S. allies and recipients of major U.S. military and economic assistance — meaning that the U.S. actually bears a responsibility to make sure its assistance is not being used in ways that are contrary to American values.

US Military is the new Army of God?
The US is on a new era of crusades with the same cruel results as millions of civilians die and/or they are left homeless and on the run. The US is not acting like a family friendly country these days.
Jeremy Scahill reports the military's religious motives:
A day after the Pentagon accused Al Jazeera of being 'irresponsible and inappropriate' for broadcasting the 'hunt for Jesus' in Afghanistan footage, the network releases unedited tapes.
Like the soldier chaplain says..."Proselytizing is against the rules." These professional soldiers need to stop bending the rules to fit their personal religious agendas. Their purpose is NOT to convert the world to christianity. If a soldier believes he should heed the call then they need to be honest and become a missionary not a soldier. Al Jazeera does their homework and is speaking truth to power (even when that power has a history of attacking and killing their reporters).

Quick Buzz...Buzz...
I'm just doing a fly by with a quick buzz. I'm an admirer of the work of Noam Chomsky. I first "discovered" Chomsky via linguistics believe it or not....but then I really fell in love with his political analysis and insight.
I've always understood that America's lamestream corporate media would not allow Noam Chomsky on the air. Heck, then Americans would really be thinking about things and questioning their leaders....and the "elites" can't have us asking quesions or making demands like single payee universal health care.
So, imagine my surprise to find that Al Jazeera is actually interviewing Noam Chomsky. WOW...If the only thing you know about Al Jazeera is what the corporate media has told you then you should check out the documentary "Control Room." I "betcha" netflix has it...I'm pretty sure that the Naro Video on Colley Ave will have it. Check it out:
