John McCain LIES to Vet in his Town Hall Meeting

According to Think Progress:

McCain has made the exact same claim before — and it is just a false today as it was then. As ThinkProgress documented, McCain’s so-called “perfect” record has been roundly criticized by prominent veterans groups: He received a grade of D from the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and a 20 percent vote rating from the Disabled Veterans of America; Vietnam Veterans of America noted McCain had “voted against us” in 15 “key votes.”

As for the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars — with whom McCain claims to have a “perfect voting record” — both groups vigorously supported Sen. Jim Webb’s (D-VA) GI Bill that McCain tirelessly opposed.

Later in the town hall, McCain admitted he does “not have a perfect voting record,” but then declared that questions about veterans issues were off limits: “I will be glad to debate a lot of things, but not that one,” McCain said.

So McCain is following Bush's example to Lie instead of tell the truth. Appears that McCain will continue to "flip flop" and lie and do whatever he thinks he has to to become President and continue the Bush and neocon legacy.

He already thinks he is a "king." It seems that McCain thinks only he an mention military matters and no one should question him on this. This "status quo" mindset has got to go!!

Thank heavens most of the folks in the army and air force (that I've spoken to) think McCain is a liar and has failed to support military people and their families.

Quote for the Day from an American Soldier

The American people don't fully realize what's going on, said Staff Sgt. Richard McClary, 27, a section leader from Buffalo.

"They just know back there what the higher-ups here tell them. But the higher-ups don't go anywhere, and actually they only go to the safe places, places with a little bit of gunfire," he said. "They don't ever [expletive] see what we see on the ground." (Source)

Reminds me of when Lindsay Graham tried to use his "guided tour" in Iraq as "proof" to show "progress" in the Iraq occupation. Jim Webb appropriately labelled Graham's "guided tour" as a "dog and pony show." Our experienced troops know what's really going on. That's why when we have an election the U.S. Government doesn't do what needs to be done to insure that our troops votes are counted! In fact the extremists Republican party actually sends mail to the home of troops stationed in Iraq with a "do not forward" so they can "challenge and eliminate" the vote of that soldier.

The Republican party has a funny way of showing their gratitude for our troops.

TODAY-- IVAW BUS STOP TOUR IN NORFOLK VA

IRAQ VETERANS AGAINST THE WAR WILL BE STOPPING IN NORFOLK TODAY.

IVAW is coming to a base near you!

IVAW members are touring bases from Georgia to New York and hosting BBQs for vets and active duty soldiers, sailors, and Marines AND Americans who are interested in supporting the troops. Today the IVAW stops at Lafayette Park in Norfolk VA 4 PM-6:30 PM. They will host a free BBQ for vets and active duty military and National Guard members. Americans interested in supporting the troops are welcome to attend. (Donations to sponsor the tour are appreciated but not expected.)

Gathering of Eagles are a hateful group....

The right wing extremists who created the LIE that Americans opposed to the war planned to deface the Vietnam Memorial were able to (finally) get a small group of folks together in a counter protest. The TRUTH is that no one wants to gather and march to support the Iraq War....so if more "counter protests" are planned in the future look for "new lies" in order to try to get someone to show up.

My friends who went to the march told me they had actually been spit upon, some were physically threatened....and all were verbally abused with heaps of obscenity pouring down upon them. So much for a peaceful march with a group of right wing extremists who seem to hate anyone or anything that doesn't conform to their agenda.

Here's a news story about an American Patriot, Charlie Anderson, who served honorably in Iraq. I first met Charlie when he was living in Virginia Beach. He is a dear soul and he's wanting to save more of his buddies so he joined the Iraq Veterans Against the War. As you will hear, those folks who hate so much and call themselves Eagles also spat on my friend Charlie.
