BP should stand for Beyond Prosecution. The US government is now impotent when it comes to protecting it's people. How can anyone have a serious discussion about national security when corporations are now acting like kings and are answerable to no one.
We need a government that is able to execute a corporate death sentence. Corporations are supposed to be chartered for the public good. Instead this has been reversed and it appears everything exists for corporate bottom lines...even the lives and health of their customers and employees.
Can anyone doubt why our founding fathers feared corporate charters?
We need to insist on publicly financed elections and take the legalized bribery out of our system. We will not see any laws or lawmakers that exist for the public good until we take the money out of politics.
Don't expect corporate media to shed light on this issue. They rake in too much money selling commercials to politicians. After all, our media is also owned by the corporations.
In the meantime, the Senator who would lead any campaign finance reform legislation in the Senate is at risk of losing his seat....his opponent is well financed by corporate cash. I encourage you to send a contribution to the Russ Feingold campaign today. You will notice that Feingold does not accept corporate cash.

A Senator for the People
Does the current system of "legalized bribery" via campaign contributions make you mad? Are you sickened when Wall Street gets bailed out and the people get left holding the bag? When banks get bailed out and then they refuse to lend money to the folks that bailed them out?
Senator Russ Feingold is being challenged by deep pocket corporate special interests. We need more Senators like Russ Feingold not fewer. So, please put your money to work for you and consider sending him a campaign contribution.
If you'd prefer not to use your credit card (so the banks don't get a piece of the money) you can make your check payable to the Feingold for Senate Committee and visit Feingold's website for the address.

Senator Bachus Needs to be Arrested!!
Senator Bachus has NO RESPECT for the majority of doctors, nurses, and the American people who support a single payee health insurance system. By not putting ALL options on the table the Senate Finance Committee hearings on health care show that the Democratic party is feeding at the same corporate trough that the Republicans used to feed from.
The Capital Police should be locking up the Senate Finance Committee Chair and the members who are paid to go along with blocking single payee health insurance advocates from a single seat at the table. IF we lived in a country that did adhere to representing the American people a MAJORITY of the seats at the discussion table would be single payee advocates.
President Obama and the Democratic party should be prepared for a major shock in the 2010 elections if they continue to sell out the American people for the corporate special interests.
Why isn't anyone in our Congress advocating Campaign Finance Reform. All of our legislation will be used against us as long as we have a pay to play Congress.

Charles Gibson is hard to stomach these days
Suddenly Charles Gibson is speaking out against the "unfairness" of money in Presidential campaigns. This is the same Charles Gibson who has been silent for the long period of time when Republicans had lots more money than the Dems. Suddenly he's interested in fairness? Does Gibson think that anything he says on this topic can be taken to the bank?
The solution is for the corporate media to provide free air time on radio and tv for the presidential candidates but Gibson won't go there. This "free" air time would be their payment for using the public airwaves....something these corporations have done so far without any payment into the public coffers.
IMO, Charles Gibson is a typical corporate media huckster.

We can publicly finance our elections.
The United States is going to spend 42 million to "influence" the Palestinian election.
If the United States would stop meddling in the free elections of other countries and allow the citizens in those country the right of self-determination without outside interference....we could divert all of that money used worldwide to finance our own elections. (That 42 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what they are allegedly spending in South America to influence elections in Brazil, Venezuela and Nicaragua) This would include the money that is spent to spread "propaganda journalism" around the world; propaganda that finds its way back to the USA to distort the viewpoints of US citizens.
Besides the goodwill this will foster...no one wants another country interfering with their election process...except, perhaps, for the small 1% "elite" minority at the top.
with public financing other countries (for example China and Israel) would no longer be able to "influence" US elections. There will no longer be justification for our elected representatives to take money or gifts for anyone.
Oh my gosh, this could be the end of the corporations controlling the American government.
It seems like a win win situation to me.
