Things have not gotten much better over at FEMA. Remember "Brownie," the Bush political appointee with lots of prior experience with Arabian Horses and no disaster preparedness training. According to Bush, Brownie did a Heckuva Job being in charge of FEMA's work in NOLA after Hurricane Katrina hit.
Bushie, the eternal optimist, has appointed another loyal, inexperienced Republican--Brock Bierman--to be the Director of the Community Preparedness Division and the "Small State and Rural Advocate" in FEMA. Brock has no prior experience with disaster planning, disaster work, or police work. He has had prior experience with sheep however. (source)
