Break the Silence Join the UN Call for Justice in the USA

The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture called on the US to charge X-President George Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for their participation in torture activities and the mistreatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

According to-Manfred Nowak-the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture:
"Judicially speaking, the United States has a clear obligation" to bring proceedings against Bush and Rumsfeld...He noted Washington had ratified the UN convention on torture which required "all means, particularly penal law" to be used to bring proceedings against those violating it.

"We have all these documents that are now publicly available that prove that these methods of interrogation were intentionally ordered by Rumsfeld," against detainees at the US prison facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Nowak said.

"But obviously the highest authorities in the United States were aware of this," added Nowak, who authored a UN investigation report on the Guantanamo prison.

Bush stepped down from power Tuesday, with Barack Obama becoming the 44th president of the United States.

Asked about chances to bring legal action against Bush and Rumsfeld, Nowak said: "In principle yes. I think the evidence is on the table."

At issue, however, is whether "American law will recognise these forms of torture." (Source)
Join the calls for justice to restore the rule of law. Contact President Obama via the White House Switchboard at 202-456-1414. You can also send a comment to President Obama via this form. I would suggest adding VP Dick Cheney to the list since he has publicly stated that he approved various techniques (that international law defines as torture).

Break the silence that allowed Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld to commit war crimes in our name.

UPDATE--There are glitches with the White House Switchboard...the comments line is NOT set up and the WH Switchboard does not appear to be answering calls....there is just a message going on and on about staying on the line to speak to a White House operator. Unfortunatley at 8:32 am the WH operator who took my call rudely cut me off and transferred me to the non-existent comment line AFTER I had told her the comment line was not set up and taking calls. I suggest you ask for the operator number so they don't hang up on you. If enough folks call maybe the comment line will be set up quickly and the Obama White House Team will then be ready from day 2 to take citizen input. Heaven forbid we should have to wait until Day three or later.

I LOVE typing, thinking and saying PRESIDENT OBAMA.....I have high hopes that PRESIDENT OBAMA will listen to the majority of folks calling for justice and single payee universal health insurance....and the carpetbagger lobbyists will be forced to fade off into the sunset.

Corporate Media Refuses to Report News

Lots of folks want to continue to push the corporate myth that the American media is liberal; a myth that is promoted by the Corporate media itself to keep folks from looking closely at how the corporate structure operates.

The news in America failed to report that Donald Rumsfeld was forced to flee France in order to escape being arrested for war crimes. Rumsfeld fled to Germany. Earlier German courts refused to try any of the Bushites for war crimes stating that this was an internal American issue that American courts should adjudicate.

Isn't it newsworthy to have a former Bush Administration official fleeing from an arrest for the charge of war crimes? IF the media was so liberal (instead of "so corporate") this NEWS would have been covered ad nauseum by every major tv news network and print media in the United States.

But the myth of the liberal media will continue to persist as long as it covers up the corporate bias that is ingrained in our media. The news professionals in the U.S. do mothing more than disseminate propaganda that promotes a corporate agenda.

Bush Approved Torture

First watch Bush Lie....

More than 100,000 pages were finally released under the Freedom of Information act and the result is the book Administration of Torture . In this book General Micheal Dunlavery reports that President Bush gave him "marching orders" to have the Pentagon approve harsher interrogation methods for use at Guantanamo.

The book sources an Army investigator reporting that Rumsfeld was "personally involved" in overseeing the interrogation of a Guantanamo prisoner Mohammed al Qahtani. The prisoner was forced to parade naked in front of female interrogators wearing women's underwear on his head and was led around on a leash while being forced to perform dog tricks.

“It is imperative that senior officials who authorized, endorsed, or tolerated the abuse and torture of prisoners be held accountable not only as a matter of elemental justice, but to ensure that the same crimes are not perpetrated again.”--Jameel Jaffer and Amrit Singh

I wonder if the Democratic Congress is going to continue to do nothing but give us lip service now that the torture has been traced all the way to Rumsfeld and Bush. Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone would at least start the impeachment hearings. If these were started it would be difficult (if not impossible) for Bush and Cheney to invade Iran and/or impose martial law in the United States.

If our Congress continues to refuse to act maybe the World Court will mete out the justice that is necessary to restore some balance of power in our world...and maybe some in Congress will also be held to account.....

Buzz...Buzz....
