Let's Talk Propaganda

Check out this critical video on how propaganda affects our lives and well-being, individually, nationally, globally.

I submit to you that in America, the truth gets slaughtered everyday in the mainstream media, either through sins of commission or omission. The media no longer functions as the Fourth Estate, fearlessly exposing the lies and deceits of politicians and powerful entities, but often just as a funnel and mouth-piece for these very same creatures. A basic tenet of mine is that "the wages of lies are death". I am not being facetious, for the lies that dragged us into Iraq, for example, have cost hundreds of thousands of lives.

If we lived in a world of daily and consistent truth-telling, our planet would be approaching a paradise. That we live in a world awash in death, destruction, poverty and corruption proves that lies predominate.

In the Sikh Faith, Sikhs' most common salutation is often "Sat Nam", which can be translated as "Truth is your highest identity". Having associated with Sikhs for a long time, I can attest that their characters and energies exude health, happiness and holiness, humility, love and grace. When was the last time a politician gave you that kind of impression?

How we think shapes our lives. How poorly or well we live is a reflection of our relationship to truth, both internally and externally, individually and nationally.

Billy Joel & Cass Dillon Performing "Christmas In Fallujah"

Stark reality interjects itself into our Christmas good cheer with this new, implicitly anti-war song recently written by Billy Joel, reminding us of the great gulf between rhetoric and reality in the United States of America, particularly amongst our rulers. But we citizens have been conditioned to this for decades through the techniques of Madison Avenue, where toxic junk can be packaged as the Mona Lisa.

While we are congratulating ourselves on being a pious Christian nation today, untold suffering is going on for the people of Iraq, nevermind all the spin about the Surge. Hundreds of thousands have been slain, many more wounded, millions displaced. Oh yes, some refugees are returning from Syria and Jordan, but that is largely because they have run out of money or been kicked out.

Worst of all is the painful reality of Fallujah, the Guernica of our times, which the American military, financed by us as taxpayers, helped decimate a month and three years ago. You have only to scroll down a few posts from this one to gauge the human carnage wrought in that assault.

So "Christmas in Fallujah" is a splash of cold water in our faces lest we grow too complacent about Iraq, inundated with endless spin doctrines obscuring the truth.

Why you need to act to prevent an Iran invasion...

Read this

Contact your Senator and Representative and DEMAND that Congress stand up and state that Iran CAN NOT be invaded without Congressional approval.

FACT IS that Iran will not have a nuclear bomb in the foreseeable future. There is no immediate threat. There may not even be a threat in the next few decades. IF we leave Iran alone it will give the secular citizens more time to change their government....If we attack we will guarantee an Islamic dominated Iran for a very long time to come.

It's another corporate media scandal...spreading the Bush propaganda so that Bush and Cheney can invade Iran.... An invasion that holds no benefits for America or her citizens. It is madness and will only result in weakening American democracy, enrichening the corporations at the expense of American citizens. It's OUR pockets that are being robbed. Stand up and contact your elected officials and demand that they support the WEBB Amendment which only authorizes an invasion with Congressional approval. (Note: The ability of the President to act in Self Defense with Iran is not affected by this legislation)

Big Brother's PENTAGON to Monitor BLOGS....

According to United Press International:

Pentagon expanding PR office

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Defense is creating a Public Affairs "rapid response team" to respond to what it sees as unfair or inaccurate coverage.

Many of the additional staff at the Pentagon Public Affairs Office will be dedicated to booking television news appearances for DOD officials and their representatives, and to trying to convince reporters and newspapers to cover the stories that the Pentagon wants to see more of.

Others will be dedicated to monitoring the Internet, creating podcasts and responding to reports on blogs, negative stories and terrorist propaganda.

The Pentagon press office in the last few weeks has also inaugurated a new blog on its Web site defenselink.mil to respond immediately to news reports it objects to.

Now Mosquito has to wonder....did those folks up in Washington get their letters mixed up again and misidentify their countries? It looks like they think this is the old USSR instead of the USA.....

Buzz....Buzz.....
