Senator Wagner is not representing Virginia Beach citizens
This is another good reason to have someone un-seat the incumbent Senator Wagner from Virginia Beach. He's costing his citizens a lot of money as Virginia Beach is fighting the uranium mining that Senator Wagner is helping get through the General Assembly.

MoveOn.Org Super Tuesday Party at Croc's
The MoveOn.Org Super Tuesday Party was a rousing success at Croc's last night. MoveOn,Org provided us with free hors d'oeuvre. We stayd until the place closed down.. The wonderful Kay Gore and Dr. D. C. Singh helped put the party together for everyone. Notables such as Susan Mariner, Alma Kessling, Tom Palumbo, Anne Williams, Connie Hannah, Jerry Tenney, John Erb (author of Poisoning of America), Sharon Bivens, and a local Barrack Obama local coordinator were among the many attendees. (Sorry if I missed out on a name....I was enjoying a few margaritas last night.)
A documentary film crew filmed the party and interviewed folks for a MoveOn documentary. I always love talking to film crews since I've had the treat to work on one documentary in the past.
The buzz is out that Barack Obama will be coming to VA soon...so keep your eyes and ears open...you won't want to miss attending a live Barack Obama event. Besides, don't you want to "check out" this Presidential contender for yourself?

PDA---Public Display of Attitude in Virginia Beach Today.

Today from 2:30-3:30 PM a wonderful PDA will occur thanks to Chris Jaramillo and the Drinking Liberally folks. I won't be at the Beach during this time but hopefully others will be....Please share your experience of the event with us.
Isn't it amazing how the media will highlight the latest kidnapping ad nauseum for weeks on end but they don't dare highlight public displays of attidude--PDA....If they did it would make it more difficult for the White House criminals to leave their yard....
Hopefully enough blogs will highlight national, regional, and local public displays of attitude--PDA. This will free the public to be more vocal and visible....PDA is a great antedote to counteract the corporate propaganda....
KUDOS to Chris J. and the Drinking Liberally group....

The "MYTH" of Environmentally Safe Offshore Drilling
This just in....Gulf of Mexico has oil spill caused by ship anchor rupturing the pipeline.
Thanks to the Republicans selling off "our" Oil at fire sale prices and cheating American taxpayers from a "decent" price.
Virginia Beach also has a future of tarred, spoiled beaches....Buzz..Buzz...

Olympia Snowe--Maine's Republican Senator
Olympia Snowe, the 59 year old Republican Senator from Maine is known as "an unlikely Internet heroine." Maine has no major technology headquarters. Snowe even admits she's not proficient on the web.
But Snowe has surfaced as a key leader in the congressional battle to preserve Net Neutrality.
Snowe has taken on both her party leadership and their corporate masters, refused to rubber stamp the Republican corporate agenda, and stands firm in support of her constituents.
She is one of those rare Republicans who knows how to work in a bi-partisan way. She co-sponsored a bill--The Internet Preservation Act--with North Dakota's Senator Byron Dorgan (D) which allowed the current rules of Net Neutrality to continue.
Snowe displays a better understanding of the internet than Ted Stevens. She stated:
Maine should be proud of Olympia Snowe. I would be pleased to have someone of her caliber to represent me. Here is a Republican protecting our freedom, not restricting it. That is becoming rare in today's "Republican terror war world."
I wish we could transplant some of her backbone into Senator John Warner....who still has not taken a public stand on Net Neutrality. (I'm still waiting for the Congressional investigation on torture that Warner promised the country.)
As far as rubber stamp George Allen? How could I "omit" him. An entire Olympia Snowe spinal transplant wouldn't do the trick. He lacks the integrity or ethics to know what to do with a spine. Bullies have no spine and no one wants them to.
George Allen is on record as AGAINST Net Neutrality. Unfortunately, Allen prefers to represent the telecommunications industry over his constituents and has received a lot of money for his campaign coffers.
Please contact Senator John Warner and ask him to take a public stand supporting Net Neutrality. It's a no brainer. This is the bill that pits the telecommunications corporation against his constituents. Remind Warner that constituents vote.
I think Allen has forgotten that fact.

“What has made the Internet such a remarkable success is the ability of people everywhere to experience a world of their own choosing on their own terms. This freedom has fostered an unprecedented exchange of information and ideas that has led to an explosion in consumer choice, the creation of new businesses, and the spread of democratic ideals around the globe. Unfortunately, if Congress does not act, the age of digital democracy will come to an end. Senator Dorgan and I introduced the Internet Freedom Preservation Act to prevent fundamental changes to the internet that would undo the democratic principles upon which it was founded.”

Secret Senate "Holder" is Outed on the anti-pork bill
This is rich. AK-Sen Ted "Bridge to Nowhere" Stevens is the one who placed the secret hold on the Anti-Pork Bill--S.2590--sponsored by Barack Obama and Tom Coburn.
(w-VA Senator Byrd had also placed a hold on the bill but released his hold after he was outed.)
Ted Stevens explains that he was concerned about the cost of the anti-pork bill...which is about $208 million LESS than his bridge to nowhere project. Stevens can't seem to fathom that others might see it as Stevens wanting to continue to raid our national treasury in secret.
This year, Senator Stevens also gave our very own Pat Robertson his own pork project. Stevens ushered the "Interstate Ramp for Pat Robertson's Real Estate Enrichment" through the Senate. This bill was passed through the U.S. House courtesy of Thelma Drake. The same Thelma "Tra La La" Drake who forgot to add this to her list of accomplishments on her website. Come on Thelma stand up and take credit for your handiwork to help out your dear friend Pat and his local real estate venture. Hmmmmm...I wonder if Thelma's real estate business will also get a kickback for this?
