OBAMA SELLS OUT OUR INTERNET
Another reason why I will NOT vote for an Obama second term....He's eliminating Net Neutrality and allowing the corporations to take over our internet on cell phones.

Call out the FCC and the Obama White House
It's time to stop the blatant criminal activity of corporations. Why do we go to jail for victimless crimes and corporations get to lie, cheat and steal with no consequences? Part of the promised change was to revoke the get out of jail free card for the elites.
Read this then call the White House at (202) 451-1111. Call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322). IF you're really industrious email the White House http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact and let them know that we were promised that the rule of law and justice was to be restored...so where's the proof of this long awaited change?
You can email the FCC folks and ask them to do their jobs and let them know we are watching. The Chairman Julius Genachowske has not acted on net neutrality...maybe he should resign...
If we don't act in our own self interest who will?

Commissioner Michael J. Copps: Michael.Copps@fcc.gov
Commissioner Robert McDowell: Robert.McDowell@fcc.gov

Al Franken talks about the Corporate Threat to Net Neutrality
A level, fair playing field....how novel.
Let's preserve one fair marketplace. Let the FCC and your elected officials know that there is no negotiation. Net Neutrality HAS to be the law of our land.

Obama Politicks real good....
President Obama thinks the Republicans have forgotten what a good politician he is.
I wish he would follow through on his campaign promise and politicking for Net Neutrality. Whatever happened to this Barack Obama?

Rep. Glenn Nye Fights for the Big Corporations to Defeat Net Neutrality
Representative Glenn Nye is the lone Virginia Democrat in the US House of Representatives who sold out his constituents to Comcast and AT&T.
Glenn Nye has signed a letter (written by industry lobbyists) asking the FCC to NOT enforce Net Neutrality.
The Democratic Party needs to oust Glenn Nye in a primary. Who needs a corporate Republican when you have Glenn Nye?
Glenn Nye is a lobbyist dream come true and is joining Senator Mark Warner as a huge disappointment who will back big business and sell out their constituents.

Net Neutrality Bill Needs You NOW
Maybe we can get the Net Neutrality bill pushed through this year and then we can all relax and enjoy OUR internet free from the elites trying to control "it" and "us"..... and that means ALL OF US from the left to the right of the political spectrum.

Net Neutrality
Whatever happened to all those Democrats (Including Rep Boucher) who WERE advocating for Net Neutrality? Why haven't they introduced a Net Neutrality Bill?
Meanwhile, in Texas, ATT is going to offer "tiered" service to news internet customers.....
We need our Net Neutrality. Corporations gatekeep the broadcast media. They need to keep their hands off OUR Free Speech on the Web.
Contact your elected officials AND Rep. Boucher....Ask what they are going to do to follow up on their promises to support Net Neutrality.

Why the Christian Coalition, MoveOn.org, Naral, and the NRA agree....
The American people want net neutrality and our groups on the right, the left, and in the middle all want net neutrality also.
Yet the Democratic Congress has not bought this issue up to be voted on.
And now the Corporations are flexing their muscles and trouncing on the righs of citizen.
Verizon wireless would not allow NARAL to utilize text messaging on their mobile phones. According to Verizon, its messaging system was closed to groups with content or an agenda that "may be seen as controversial or unsavory to any of our users." (Source-L.A. Times)
Contact your Va Representative and Fa Rep.Boucher and ask him why his net neutrality amendment has not made it to the house floor. Also Contact Jim Webb who ran on net neutrality and ask him to support getting Olympia Snoew's net neutrality amendment to the floor.Contacting Olympia Snowe, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid would also be helpful.
Let them know about the Verizon AND the AT%T abouses. Demand Net Neutrality now.

Surprise--Net Neutrality "violated" once again...
The new AT&T terms of service warns internet subscribers that if they criticize AT&T they can lose their internet service. Thank heavens I don't use AT&T. If I did, I would be changing my service asap.
Once again....did you ever doubt the need for net neutrality?
I wish we could "count on" the Democratic Congress to do something right....Silly me I thought net neutrality would have already been passed by this "democratic congress" and they have never even brought it to the floor for a vote.
Makes you wonder...do we even have a second opposition party functioning in America? I swear it's becoming difficult to tell the difference between a Democrat and a Republican these days....especially after that horrendous Lieberman/Kyl amendment was passed with an overwhelming majority in a so-called democratic congress.
Just call me disgusted with all the politicians who have been bought by the corporate elites.

Wake UP!!
The Corporations continue their never ending march to control and profit over everything.
Senator Jim Webb supports net neutrality and Senator John Warner still has not told his constituents how he plans to represent them.....remember net neutrality is something that everyone's constituents (be they left, middle, or right on the political spectrum) wants protected. It's the corporations who want to control the internet, our free speech on the internet....etc... etc...
Contact Warner and ask him to respond to you in writing with his net neutrality position. Hopefully, you won't get a letter filled with telecommunications talking points.
It is important to contact the FCC NOW (deadline is looming) to protect net neutrality on wireless devices (the computerland of our future!!)

We Are The Web
When you're contacting your elected officials in DC on Jan 3 and 4th about Iraq withdrawal (asap)...you might remind them that net neutrality needs to be addressed asap too. There's no reason this measure can't be passed quickly...there are fine bills from Jim Moran in the house and one from Olympia Snowe in the Senate that were introduced last session. Moran's was defeated and Senator George Allen wouldn't let Snowe's bill leave his committee for a vote. So the DEMS need to insure Net Neutrality asap...

Update: Thanks to Jonathan Mark at Goodbye Jim for finding my greivous error.
Rep. Rick Boucher (VA-09) deserves the credit I wrongly gave to Jim Moran.

Media Watch and Net Neutrality
The corporate media has definitely not been covering this issue. This is their special interest that NOT in the best interests of the American people.
Thanks to the Seattle Times we have an update on the Republican FCC Chairman's push to allow ATT and Bell South to merge without Net Neutrality guarantees. The Republican Chair-- Kevin Martin--tried to force the newest Republican member to vote on this issue to break the deadlock (a tie vote). The newest member--Robert McDowell--refused to vote choosing to honor his word. McDowell had testified before Congress that he would not vote on any issue affecting the telecommunications industry (he has strong ties here).
The two Democratic members are holding firm...so the merger is currently blocked. For more info on this merger and other media news check out Free Press.

SAVE THE INTERNET
Be wary of the corporate media's FAKE grassroots "front group" called Hands off the Internet....this is their public relations propaganda to kill net neutrality...one of the founding principles that the creators of the internet instilled into the system to make it what it is today.
Join the millions of Americans fighting to Save The Internet This is the issue that is uniting America not dividing us. Groups as varied as MoveOn.org and the Christian Coalition all support net neutrality.
The internet is currently our strongest tool to counteract the corporate and "neo con" propaganda.....let's not lose our voice!!
Let's Act now so that Net Neutrality is one of the first bills passed in our new "Democratic Congress." We've fought long and hard and it's time to put a stop to the corporate dirty tricks and their dirty money polluting our democratic system.
Buzz...Buzz...

Net Neutrality is still on the block....
The telecommunications industry continues to pressure Congress to eliminate Net Neutrality. Senator Stevens, at this time, does NOT have the 60 votes needed to prevent a filibuster. If he can't muster the 60 votes net neutrality will be safe until the new congress reconvenes. IF that new Congress has a democratic majority in the Senate, Net Neutrality will probably be safe....but don't count on anything.
Here's a list of the Senators. Generally, an unknown is someone who is not declaring to their constituents their stance. This issue is not new....I find it hard to believe that the Senators have not researched and studied the issue, especially since so many bills were supposed to make it to the floor on this issue.
So check the list and please contact these people...The telecommunications keep the pressure on daily. We've been able to fend off the big money interest but it's only been through dilegence and perseverance. If you haven't discussed net neutrality with your Senators or representatvie pleace so do in the near future.

Olympia Snowe--Maine's Republican Senator
Olympia Snowe, the 59 year old Republican Senator from Maine is known as "an unlikely Internet heroine." Maine has no major technology headquarters. Snowe even admits she's not proficient on the web.
But Snowe has surfaced as a key leader in the congressional battle to preserve Net Neutrality.
Snowe has taken on both her party leadership and their corporate masters, refused to rubber stamp the Republican corporate agenda, and stands firm in support of her constituents.
She is one of those rare Republicans who knows how to work in a bi-partisan way. She co-sponsored a bill--The Internet Preservation Act--with North Dakota's Senator Byron Dorgan (D) which allowed the current rules of Net Neutrality to continue.
Snowe displays a better understanding of the internet than Ted Stevens. She stated:
Maine should be proud of Olympia Snowe. I would be pleased to have someone of her caliber to represent me. Here is a Republican protecting our freedom, not restricting it. That is becoming rare in today's "Republican terror war world."
I wish we could transplant some of her backbone into Senator John Warner....who still has not taken a public stand on Net Neutrality. (I'm still waiting for the Congressional investigation on torture that Warner promised the country.)
As far as rubber stamp George Allen? How could I "omit" him. An entire Olympia Snowe spinal transplant wouldn't do the trick. He lacks the integrity or ethics to know what to do with a spine. Bullies have no spine and no one wants them to.
George Allen is on record as AGAINST Net Neutrality. Unfortunately, Allen prefers to represent the telecommunications industry over his constituents and has received a lot of money for his campaign coffers.
Please contact Senator John Warner and ask him to take a public stand supporting Net Neutrality. It's a no brainer. This is the bill that pits the telecommunications corporation against his constituents. Remind Warner that constituents vote.
I think Allen has forgotten that fact.

“What has made the Internet such a remarkable success is the ability of people everywhere to experience a world of their own choosing on their own terms. This freedom has fostered an unprecedented exchange of information and ideas that has led to an explosion in consumer choice, the creation of new businesses, and the spread of democratic ideals around the globe. Unfortunately, if Congress does not act, the age of digital democracy will come to an end. Senator Dorgan and I introduced the Internet Freedom Preservation Act to prevent fundamental changes to the internet that would undo the democratic principles upon which it was founded.”

Act Now to Save the Internet
If you happen to see Allen or Warner out campaigning this weekend why not walk up and tell them face to face you want net neutrality. Ask them to support real Virginians. Tell them to stop selling us out to the highest bidding corporation.
The Info below is from Save the Internet
Sen. John W. Warner (R-VA)
Undeclared on Net Neutrality
Call Sen. Warner now at 804-771-2579
Say: "I urge Senator Warner to protect Net Neutrality, which prevents the largest phone and cable companies from controlling the Internet. I urge the Senator to vote NO on Senator Stevens' telecommunications bill (H.R. 5252 / S. 2686) unless real Net Neutrality language is added that prohibits network operators from discriminating against content and creating a tiered Internet."
Sen. George Allen (R-VA)
Against Net Neutrality
Call Sen. Allen now at 804-771-2221
Say: "I object to Senator Allen's stance against Net Neutrality. The senator should prevent the largest phone and cable companies from controlling the Internet. I urge Senator Allen to change his position and vote NO on Senator Stevens' telecommunications bill (H.R. 5252 / S. 2686) unless real Net Neutrality language is added that prohibits network operators from discriminating against content and creating a tiered Internet."
