Gas Attack
know those husband/wife mishaps, right? "Did you
pay the gas and electric before we left for
vacation?" Sure honey, don't you remember, I
paid it online." "Okay, so I can throw this
notice away?" "Well yeah, in the recycle bin.")
The representative left a little door hanger
saying, "sorry I missed you," meaning he/she
made an attempt to see me, right? WRONG!
The phone representative, Lisa, told me the person
coming to shut off the gas is not supposed to
attempt contact with the tenant.
Well, EXCUSE ME, but then why does he/she leave
a note that states, "sorry I missed you?"
What's even more confusing is why right-wing
anti-health care reform fanatics haven't been
screaming about our utilities. We no longer
have a center for gas or electric IN the area
they service. We do NOT have a competing
source for gas and electric, meaning they
have a monopoly, AND whenever you contact
them, you get a person living in India taking
your call!
Talk about potential terrorist attack
opportunity. All they need to do is take over a
call center in a foreign country and have those
guys issue disconnect notices for EVERYONE in a
particular area.
And what is seriously wrong with this situation
is that WE did this. We turned a blind eye and
allowed legislation from our representatives to
pass that allows this from our basic utility companies!
If you think keeping utilities in the hands of foreigners
is okay and monopolies are okay, then do nothing.
If you think this is a problem, for crying out loud
write your representatives and tell them you want
competing FREE market utilities.

Virginia's House Representatives Need to get off the Fence

Then I want to CHALLENGE my Representative, Bobby Scott, to get off the fence. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines. Rep. Wexlar, had the decency to poll his constituents and now he's supporting Impeachment. Another Virginia Representative is supporting impeachment. Does Bobby Scott really believe that Bush and Cheney have not committed crimes that are impeachable?
There is NOTHING, NO BILL, NOTHING, more important than establishing that this is a country ruled by law and not a few crude cruel men who can do anything they want, regardless of what the people say.
Here are some facts:
A June 23-26, 2005, ABC/Washington Post poll found 52 percent of Americans believe the Bush administration "deliberately misled the public before the war," a nine-point increase in three months. And 57 percent say the Bush administration "intentionally exaggerated its evidence that pre-war Iraq possessed nuclear, chemical or biological weapons."
A June 27-29, 2005, Zogby poll found 42 percent of Americans say that "if it is found that President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should hold him accountable through impeachment." According to Zogby, in Eastern and Western states supporters of impeachment outnumber opponents.
The 42 percent above is significantly higher than the 27 percent of Americans who favored impeachment of President Clinton before impeachment proceedings began in 1998. (NOTE: this is an old poll...the percentage is now believed to be higher especially since the study was released this week proving that Bush, Cheney et al lied hundreds of times to lead us into an illegal invasion.)
If there was ever a reason to impeach it is now. Our founding fathers gave us the tools we needed to protect our constitution and preserve our democracy. Our elected officials, in failing to use the tools they have at their disposal, are becoming accessories to the war crimes and the dismantling of our democracy and our rule of law.
Some cry that it's too late. Try using that defense in court. It's bogus. It's not too late to restore the rule of law to our land. We need to know once and for all if Bush and Cheney are guilty or not guilty of impeachable crimes. I want to know if Bush and Cheney, as Washington "insider" talk goes, started their illegal activities such as the surveillance program BEFORE 9/11 occurred. Allegedly that's one of the reasons Bush is so adamant that telecommunications get retroactive immunity.
Contact your representative asap. Ask them to take a stand---Do they support impeachment, or would they rather defend the position that there is no reason to start impeachment hearings against Bush and Cheney?
The Democrats have been whining about how that mean ole President Bush is using his veto to get his way....while they hope this will get them more votes in 2008....Pelosi and Reid believe it's to their benefit to protect Bush and Cheney. They mistakenly believe that playing politics is going to GOTV. Every day the Congressional Dems sit on the fence gives their base, their major supporters more reason to sit in our homes come the November elections. I'm not going out to vote for the Democratic nominee if the Democrats won't uphold their congressional oaths to defend the constitution!!
It's never too late to stop playing politics and do the right thing. This is the time to take a stand right now. On January 29th, Dennis Kucinich will re-introduce impeachment. Get off the fence and support it or defend your stand that there's no reason to impeach. But get off the fence!! We didn't elect you to do nothing.

Challenge to Bobby Scott and Rick Boucher

Sidebar: Don't forget that Cheney is the ultimate war profiteer (as well as an oil profiteer)....in one year alone (during his vice presidency) his Haliburton stock options earned him a 3,ooo % return....If Cheney only purchased a miserly 10,000 worth (highly unlikely) his profit on that would have been 30 million dollars. I wouldn't be surprised if his profit from Halliburton that year was more like 300 million dollars.
Wexler urges hearings on Cheney trial Let's Challenge Bobby Scott and Rick Boucher to join Wexler and protect our beloved constitution.
Why won’t House Democrats Bobby Scott (VA-3rd) and Rick Boucher (Va-9th) follow the example set by another House Democrat—Robert Wexler (FLA-19th)? Wexler polled his constituents and discovered that 61% favored impeaching Vice President Cheney.
Why not borrow Wexler’s poll and insert the additional question on Bush and see what your constituents desire on this matter? This question will be coming before your committee very soon because Wexler is going to ask the Judiciary Committee to seriously look at impeaching Vice President Cheney.
Wexler believes that starting the impeachment process will increase the voice of the Democrats in other legislative matters that the Bush/Cheney Whitehouse has been blocking.

Is Representative Bobby Scott planning to sell us out today?
Representative Bobby Scott has stated in countless town hall meetings among his constituents that he is opposed to the Iraq War. IF he votes to approve giving President Bush a blank check to continue on his disastrous path then Representative Scott is going to have many uncomfortable town hall meetings in his future.....
There is no excuse for the Democratic party to take their constituents for granted. If they want 2008 to remain promising they had better not sell us out on the Iraq War....and they had better not sell us out with their secret NAFTA plan either. If they decide to continue their support for either of these bills....they they are as complicit as Joe Lieberman, George Bush, and Dick Cheney.
I have long admired Rep. Scott and I pray he does the right thing today. I'd hate to be betrayed by a Representative I have trusted for so long.
Buzz....Buzz....
