George Macaca Allen is working for Fred Thompson

The Republican Presidential candidates are in a league of their own. Fred Thompson has tapped George "Macaca" Allen to be the national co-chair of his campaign. (Source)

Not to be outdone Rudy G. has chosen his own man in Philly--Joey Vento. Vento and Allen appear to havea few things in common. Both men are fans of the Confederate flag and Vento is currently having his own Macaca moment....it is alleged that Vento told a reporter that Mexicans carry disease and should not play or drink in the same water as Mexicans. (Source 1, Source 2)

Maybe Rudy and Fred will be asked to give a Rebel Yell at the next Republican debate?

Virginia's Word

First there was George Allen and the macaca incident. Allen's use of a racial epithet from his mother's native land and his subsequent explanations garnered so much attention that "macaca" is becoming a new, widely used word in American English.

Now a new "macaca" moment comes from the mouth of another right wing Virginian Republican, Virgil Goode (R-VA-5th). The Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned Goode's "ignorant and divisive statements " and called on him to apologize. As if this writing, Goode has issued no apology.

I love my home state. However, recent bigotry is not the sole domain of a few right wing Virginian Republicans. In the midterm elections, Virginians voted to enshrine Jim Crow into our state constitution. As a young girl I have memories of living in a Jim Crow state. Things were separate, but definitely not equal.

Bigotry is bigotry. Elected officials such as George Allen and Virgil Goode, and the passage of the marriage amendment indicates that VA has more than it's fair share of racists, bigots and homophobes. I don't seem to have a case to present in defending my home state of VA against these charges of racism and bigotry.

I suggest that my home state adopt a new state symbol to recognize and "honor" the power and the influence of right wing extremists in our state.

We have a eleven state symbols (not counting our flag and various seals). These symbols include a state boat (Chesapeake Bay deadrise), a dog (American Fox Hound), and a state bird (red cardinal). So why not a state word? And a state word from George Allen, a state politician the corporate media describes as "very popular," seems appropriate.

Why not enshrine Macaca as Virginia’s state word?

Allen's Staffers Assault a Virginian Citizen Asking Questions

Another Macaca Incident.

These look like the same Allen Staffers who have accompanied Allen on his Tidewater visits. Beware Folks....If you want to ask Allen a question if his staffers don't like the question you may end up assaulted.

George Allen told the press that stuff like this happens.....

This video on YouTube shows the assault...

As far as news in Virginia goes this definitely TRUMPS the Kerry story the media is hyping. So it will be intereting to see if Virginia's "lame stream press" will give this latest incident the coverage it deserves.

Thanks to Not Larry Sabato and Raising Kaine blogs for getting this out.

Loyalty is NOT always a virtue....

Misplaced loyalty is definitely NOT a virtue....

I'm an independent...I support Jim Webb.

I got to thinking what I would do if the "shoe" was on the other foot....If Jim Webb was guilty of racism and his behavior was finally catching up with him...what would I do?

Being independent, thinking for myself, and not willing to just go along to get along...I would have to renounce my support of Mr. Webb if that was the situation....

In fact, after contemplating Vivian Paige's writings I had some dialogues with friends and realized that the Webb campaign had failed to "activate" their base. I understand some folks are working to correct this situation.

So why does someone have blind loyalty? Why will they go down with someone who, if given the opportunity, would be the first to jump off the ship?

I'm creative but this is just blowing my mind....

So if you are a Republican and continue to support Allen....despite all the evidence....Why do you remain loyal?

If you are a Republican and have lost faith in George Allen...what do you do now?

I'm starting to believe that being the member of a political party in a two party system is not the best action for America in these times....I prefer to vote for the BEST candidate for the job.

In this VA Senate Race there's no longer a contest. Jim Webb is the best man for the job of representing Virginians and Americans in the Senate.

Who knows, if we get enough Jim Webb types elected, over time, we may be able to honestly call it the United States Senate once again.

In the meantime, how many Republicans will put party first and Virginia last?

Dirt is muddying Virginia's Politics

I get angry when I hear anyone say that George Allen has historically supported Black colleges and universities. It's a lie. I was on the Norfolk State University campus on a regular basis when George Allen was Governor and Allen singled out VA's two black univerities--Norfolk State and and Virginia State--to take a hit that was approximately 4x larger than the hit taken by other state universities such as Old Domininion University. Across the board the average hit by the white universities was a 2.7 % cut. NSU and VA State budgets were cut by 10%.

These colleges were already operating on a bare bones budget before the hit. ODU continued to build and expand and NSU could not even expand and update the most crucial buidling on a University...it's library. Raising Kaine has more info

George Allen started supporting Black Universities when he started to get the idea of national office in his head...Hampton University President Willam Harvey supports Allen and contributed $2,100 to Allen's campaign on 4/20/06. Anyone who know HU's president, William Harvey, knows that he is a wealthy, Republican and a Bush supporter. Harvey has a history of suppressing Free Speech on HU's campus and hus administration has set up obstacles preventing HU students from creating progressive student groups at HU. They have tried for years to set up a college Amnesty International group. It's not much of a stretch to wonder if William Harvey supported (if not actively campaigned) for Allen to recieve the Thurgood Marshall Community Leadership Award. This award would have helped Allen counter his known history of racism.

However, the African American community could not accept George Allen receiving this award. They stood their ground, refused to continue their economic support of the fund if Allen were to get the reward. They REFUSED to honor Senator George Allen due to his history of racism. I applauded this action.

So why are a few black men now coming to Allen's defense? It makes no sense especially when one of them is a VA Democratic Senator.

It makes no sense. I wonder what is going on in the back rooms of Virginia politics?
It smells dirty and nasty.

It's well known that Allen is no friend to the African American community. He raises his own salary multiple times and won't support raising minimum wage. He did not support the Holiday for the great Martin Luther King. He gets horrible ratings from the NAACP and civil rights groups.

There is no disputing the fact that Webb is a better Senator for the African American Community than Allen could ever hope to be.

I'm including Harris Miller and his loyal devotees in this sell out crowd. Harris Miller was spoken of as a LOYAL DEMOCRAT and a great supporter of the Democrat party. That was the major reason multitudes of Harris supporters gave me as the reason to back this "lobbyist...."

I see Harris Miller is sitting on the sidelines acting like a sore loser. Miller PROMISED during his primary campaign that he would support the winner of the primary. He tried to make it an issue that Webb would be the one to not support him. Unfortunately, Harris Miller is validating the reason why I refused to vote for him. I didn't trust what I was told about this "alleged" great party Democrat....

I wish Harris Miller would prove me wrong and get off the sidelines and do what he promised to do....Support Jim Webb. Maybe he needs reminding that no one likes a sore loser? Maybe he needs to remember that he once had a reputation that he was a loyal democrat that he still has time to save? Or Maybe he's going to do a Joe Lieberman and become an independent republican?

Folks have been talking for years now about creating or joining a third party in VA. IF this elections is lost due to the VA DEMS self-destructing they are going to see so many people leave the party it's going to make their heads spin.

So Virginia Democrats you have a choice. The choice is to unite and get behind your winning candidate or fragment into pieces and lose whatever power you still have remaining.

All of us need to ask ourselves one very important question. Who will win and who will lose if Allen gets re-elected as Virginia's Senator?

VA and the United States deserves better than George Allen.

I hope the Dems will unite. This really is a race the Democrats can win. This really is a race that can strengthen the Democratic party and help all of us get our local, state, and federal governments tosteer a new course that safeguards and benefits all of us instead of an elite few.

More Caca from Allen?

Senate man Senate man whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when we come for you?

It will be interesting to see how Senator Allen votes during the September session. Will he continue to ignore his constituents and back the Corporate powers that be? Is he going to continue to dismantle net neutrality? If he votes for Senator Stevens telecommunications bill net neutrality is gonna die.

Senator Allen are you going to expand federal powers and limit states rights? Will you defy all 50 US state governors? Will you vote to put the National Guard under Bush’s incompetent leadership?

How about making the President a king and beholden to no law in the land? Are you going to back that bill that will grant immunity for all the President’s men who violated the Geneva Convention and international law. Are you going to back Spector’s new wiretapping bill that will immunize all the President’s men for their illegal mis-behaviors. Actions that did not make us safer, btw. However, they sure have given the Republican Corporation—ChoicePoint—lots of private information on Americans. Information that will be used in the future to continue to divide not unify our country. Information that can be used by the Republican party to dismantle democracy and enshrine a one party rule in this country.

If you continue your bushwhacked voting record…I remind you… November's judgement day is just around the corner.

Senate man Senate man whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when we come for you?

Allen is Running Away From His Constituents?

Mosquito was LOL reading on Daily Kos how Mike Stark, a UVA student, asked George Allen a pertinent question given Allen's history and his recent Macaca rant.

Stark asked The question, "Have you ever used the word nigger?"

Allen answered, "Oh, c'mon... sheesh..."

Stark also asked Allen to explain why he had a confederate flag and a noose hanging from the tree in his law office.

Allen's said, "Listen - just let me do this here, and then I'll answer your question about the flag and the noose."

Then his campaign staff had the hotel manager ask the law student to leave.

Allen then cancelled the rest of his day's events.

How is Allen going to campaign in Virginia if he won't answer questions from his constituents?

Allen is running all right....from his constituents. This is not a good sign.

Maybe we should collect footage from around the state of Allen avoiding his constituents. We could title it, "See Allen Run."
