Call Out The Republicorp Senate
Take a minute and call out a Republicorp Senator today. Why would they only bail out the wealthiest Americans (the criminals who wrecked our economy) and then leave everyone else to fend for themselves.
Let them know that not everyone was bailed out and it's about time that the folks that were bailed out put something back so maybe we'll have the resources to fix this mess they put us in.
Buzz Buzz Buzz.....

Herbert Hoover and Andrew Mellon thought their economic policies would purge the rottenness out of the system and lead to a more moral life. Instead, it purged morality out of the system and lead to a more rotten life for millions of Americans. And that's exactly what Republicans are offering yet again.--Robert Reich

Radical Republicans Pray for Death
Jesus Christ would not be pleased at what's occurring in his name. Radical religious extremists are in every religion. They are just too busy pointing fingers at others to see their own reflections. Todays Grand Obstructionist Party is actively courting religious extremists.

According to Creamer:
Bear in mind, as outrageous as the employee's conduct was, no one was injured, no money was stolen, no deal was fixed. There was no victim of their acts. No matter, within days the Right Wing noise machine went into full "fury" mode. Republicans used their procedural prerogatives in Congress to force votes cutting off any federal funding for ACORN. Enough Democrats went along, and the motions passed both Houses.
Compare that to what happened when Boeing was caught fixing bids for a giant tanker project, or AIG created the massive Credit Default Swap scheme that helped sink the entire financial system, or the greed of traders who received tens of millions in personal compensation caused millions of retirees to loose half of their 401K plans. Remember the hundreds of millions of dollars in overcharges for fuel in Iraq by KBR, the subsidiary of Haliburton. Or compare it to what happened to the security contractor Blackwater when its personnel opened fire and killed 14 civilians in Nisoor Square in Baghdad.
No Republican demanded that these firms be "defunded" by Congress. No, instead AIG and the banks that were "too big to fail" received billions in bail-out money. The brilliant traders who sunk AIG got multi-million dollar bonuses. KBR, Haliburton, Boeing and even Blackwater still have huge government contracts.
Think about it. An amateur Right Wing journalist finally finds an ACORN employee who provides him and his faux hooker cohort with some outrageous advice, and the Republicans get Congress to pass legislation cutting off funding in little more than a week. Blackwater employees kill 14 Iraqi civilians, endangering America's mission in Iraq and the Republicans don't utter a peep.
Then again, what do you expect from the political party that last week promoted a "values summit" and is lead by philanderers like former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Senator David Vitter, Governor Mark Sanford, and Senator John Ensign. The Republicans have always been the kings of the double standard.

Buzz-Myths behind Republican Insurgency
We all need to keep on top of these Myths and hopefully the corporate media and the Republican Party will come to the realization that we are sick of the lies and propaganda.....
Hope all is well out there....Hope you are enjoying the fabulous new "Huffington Post" blogger that our Mac recruited to our blog. Georgianne Nienabar is awesome. We are proud to have her on our team.

Erc Cantor (R-VA) sponsoring bill to lower Corporate taxes
According to Think Progress:
At a press conference today unveiling the stimulus proposal, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) justified the conservative plan to give tax breaks to corporations — instead of working Americans — by arguing that people actually like working long hours:
I am so proud to be from the state of Minnesota. We’re the workingest state in the country, and the reason why we are, we have more people that are working longer hours, we have people that are working two jobs.
Bachmann’s version of the American Dream is apparently working two full-time jobs and struggling to get by.
Yesterday, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office concluded that corporate tax cuts, such as the one proposed by Cantor, "may be less cost-effective in the short term" and less effective than a stimulus plan consisting of “tax rebates, extended unemployment benefits and a temporary increase in food stamps.”

The Mood in the Streets
It used to be whenever I had a "progressive" sign up in my yard it would be gone within a few days. My two current signs --"Support the Troops End the War"--have been up for over two months....No one is bothering them.
This morning as I sipped my coffee a man in a white truck stopped by. He wanted to know where he could get a sign like mine. I had a spare sign I was happy to give him. We talked for about 10 mins. He said he thought Bush and Cheney needed to be taken to court and tried for treason.
Whenever I go out in my Impeach Bush/Cheney t-shirts no one glares at me. In fact, perfect strangers give me a thumbs up, a verbal love that shirt, etc etc.....
But the Democrats better not crow....the anger is turning on them too. None of us is happy that the Democrats remain spineless. We are sick of both parties...they both seem to have sold out to the corporate interests. The people would be ecstatic if we had a second party in this country to choose from....a party that represented "us" not the corporate elite.
If the Democrats don't get it together, if they don't stop funding Bush/Cheney's Iraqi occupation and insist on withdrawal....If they don't do what is necessary to STOP Bush/Cheney from invading Iran....If they don't get it together and pass Net Neutrality.....and this is just for starters....they are all going to be in for a big surprise come voting time.
Too many of us have had it. We are no longer going to vote for the "lesser evil." It gets us no where. We are ready for a change in our government. If the Democrats won't do it....well then maybe we will start putting up our own J. Blows to get elected....
If the Dems don't wake up they are going to find that they have shot themselves in the foot!!!

A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Republicans
I know you are dismayed and disheartened at the results of last week's election. You're worried that the country is heading toward a very bad place you don't want it to go. Your 12-year Republican Revolution has ended with so much yet to do, so many promises left unfulfilled. You are in a funk, and I understand.
Well, cheer up, my friends! Do not despair. I have good news for you. I, and the millions of others who are now in charge with our Democratic Congress, have a pledge we would like to make to you, a list of promises that we offer you because we value you as our fellow Americans. You deserve to know what we plan to do with our newfound power -- and, to be specific, what we will do to you and for you.
Thus, here is our Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives:
Dear Conservatives and Republicans,
I, and my fellow signatories, hereby make these promises to you:
1. We will always respect you for your conservative beliefs. We will never, ever, call you "unpatriotic" simply because you disagree with us. In fact, we encourage you to dissent and disagree with us.
2. We will let you marry whomever you want, even when some of us consider your behavior to be "different" or "immoral." Who you marry is none of our business. Love and be in love -- it's a wonderful gift.
3. We will not spend your grandchildren's money on our personal whims or to enrich our friends. It's your checkbook, too, and we will balance it for you.
4. When we soon bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq, we will bring your sons and daughters home, too. They deserve to live. We promise never to send your kids off to war based on either a mistake or a lie.
5. When we make America the last Western democracy to have universal health coverage, and all Americans are able to get help when they fall ill, we promise that you, too, will be able to see a doctor, regardless of your ability to pay. And when stem cell research delivers treatments and cures for diseases that affect you and your loved ones, we'll make sure those advances are available to you and your family, too.
6. Even though you have opposed environmental regulation, when we clean up our air and water, we, the Democratic majority, will let you, too, breathe the cleaner air and drink the purer water.
7. Should a mass murderer ever kill 3,000 people on our soil, we will devote every single resource to tracking him down and bringing him to justice. Immediately. We will protect you.
8. We will never stick our nose in your bedroom or your womb. What you do there as consenting adults is your business. We will continue to count your age from the moment you were born, not the moment you were conceived.
9. We will not take away your hunting guns. If you need an automatic weapon or a handgun to kill a bird or a deer, then you really aren't much of a hunter and you should, perhaps, pick up another sport. We will make our streets and schools as free as we can from these weapons and we will protect your children just as we would protect ours.
10. When we raise the minimum wage, we will pay you -- and your employees -- that new wage, too. When women are finally paid what men make, we will pay conservative women that wage, too.
11. We will respect your religious beliefs, even when you don't put those beliefs into practice. In fact, we will actively seek to promote your most radical religious beliefs ("Blessed are the poor," "Blessed are the peacemakers," "Love your enemies," "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God," and "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."). We will let people in other countries know that God doesn't just bless America, he blesses everyone. We will discourage religious intolerance and fanaticism -- starting with the fanaticism here at home, thus setting a good example for the rest of the world.
12. We will not tolerate politicians who are corrupt and who are bought and paid for by the rich. We will go after any elected leader who puts him or herself ahead of the people. And we promise you we will go after the corrupt politicians on our side FIRST. If we fail to do this, we need you to call us on it. Simply because we are in power does not give us the right to turn our heads the other way when our party goes astray. Please perform this important duty as the loyal opposition.
I promise all of the above to you because this is your country, too. You are every bit as American as we are. We are all in this together. We sink or swim as one. Thank you for your years of service to this country and for giving us the opportunity to see if we can make things a bit better for our 300 million fellow Americans -- and for the rest of the world.
Signed,
Michael Moore

P.S. Please feel free to pass this on.
Authors Bio: Michael Francis Moore (born April 23, 1954) is an American film director, author, and social commentator. He is widely known for his outspoken, critical views on globalization, large corporations, gun violence, the Iraq War, and the George W. Bush administration. wikipedia profile mmflint@aol.com www.michaelmoore.com
Michael Moore said it so well. I posted it because I believe it needs to be disseminated widely. I don't know a single "left winger" who has expressed sentiments that vary from this. So calm down you conservative folks....you're going to be treated fairly. Hopefully, many of you will want to reciprocate. One day maybe the more extreme radical neo cons will "see the light" and give up their dirty, power grabbing tricks and divisive wedge tactics.

My Buzz on George Bush
Bush's sudden turn around was so artful....He dumped Rumsfeld!! That was great! But then he quickly nominated this Gates guy....I started to check out this Gates guy and the more I read the angrier I became.
I feel like the entire Bush "turn around" is nothing more than another Rovian PR job to enable Bush to continue the "same ole same ole" stay the course with this new guy.
Even worse...it looks like Bush's folks still have their guns aimed at Iran and want to create another disaster for America. (Hell, why does Al Queda even need to plan an attack on American soil as long as Bush is in office and deadset on such disastrous goals?)
I have come to the conclusion that Gates is just another Bush loyalist "yes" man and is another bad move. He "politicized" the CIA. That IS the major problem with the "faulty intelligence" and cherry picking that got us into Iraq. The fact that Bush is wanting the man that helped him lead this nation astray to be rewarded with the position of Secretary of Defense is typical Bush. Promote incompetent yes folks who are loyal and get rid of the competent folks who have skills and integrity.
The next Secretary of Defense needs to be carefully considered. I'm very happy to hear from local Webb folks (and the Virginia Beach Dems blogger)--Beach Mom) that Jim Webb will question the Gates nomination. I "thought" this would be the case. I didn't get the idea that Webb prefers "yes" men.
During this congress we will get a chance to see which Republicans are willing to work together with the Democrats to pull our nation from this fiery quagmire that Bush insisted on.
It will also give us a chance to assess if there are TWO parties up in Washington. I'm hoping the Democrats will prove themselves. But if the Democrats go with the status quo and let Gates through then I'll be singing the David Rovics new song, "Democrats make me want to vomit."
In my book BOTH parties have to prove themselves now.

Loyalty is NOT always a virtue....
I'm an independent...I support Jim Webb.
I got to thinking what I would do if the "shoe" was on the other foot....If Jim Webb was guilty of racism and his behavior was finally catching up with him...what would I do?
Being independent, thinking for myself, and not willing to just go along to get along...I would have to renounce my support of Mr. Webb if that was the situation....
In fact, after contemplating Vivian Paige's writings I had some dialogues with friends and realized that the Webb campaign had failed to "activate" their base. I understand some folks are working to correct this situation.
So why does someone have blind loyalty? Why will they go down with someone who, if given the opportunity, would be the first to jump off the ship?
I'm creative but this is just blowing my mind....
So if you are a Republican and continue to support Allen....despite all the evidence....Why do you remain loyal?
If you are a Republican and have lost faith in George Allen...what do you do now?
I'm starting to believe that being the member of a political party in a two party system is not the best action for America in these times....I prefer to vote for the BEST candidate for the job.
In this VA Senate Race there's no longer a contest. Jim Webb is the best man for the job of representing Virginians and Americans in the Senate.
Who knows, if we get enough Jim Webb types elected, over time, we may be able to honestly call it the United States Senate once again.
In the meantime, how many Republicans will put party first and Virginia last?

Net Neutrality is still on the block....
Here's a list of the Senators. Generally, an unknown is someone who is not declaring to their constituents their stance. This issue is not new....I find it hard to believe that the Senators have not researched and studied the issue, especially since so many bills were supposed to make it to the floor on this issue.
So check the list and please contact these people...The telecommunications keep the pressure on daily. We've been able to fend off the big money interest but it's only been through dilegence and perseverance. If you haven't discussed net neutrality with your Senators or representatvie pleace so do in the near future.

This is for Rocinante's Burdens
After reading your post I believe this video is a must see for you. The video you want is titled "This is Absurd."
Expect more spin and dirt. After, all Senator Allen who pledges a "clean" campaign hired the original swiftboater to run his.
If you are looking for a candidate who runs on the issues you need to take a good long look at Jim Webb. I support Webb because of his character, his experience, and after lots of research.
I refuse to support George Allen because I know him. He prefers to support the corporate elite instead of me. He prefers to divide people not unite them. The disastrous War in Iraq, Rising Gas Prices (which will rise again after the election), and war profiteering are not in my best interests. Staying the course and allowing incompetents to continue to run the show with no accountability is not good government policy. Neing a rubber stamp for George Bush is bankrupting America.
Forget the labels, forget the party nonsense...Vote for the best candidate who will represent the interests of most Americans not a few wealthy elitists.

Dirt is muddying Virginia's Politics

I get angry when I hear anyone say that George Allen has historically supported Black colleges and universities. It's a lie. I was on the Norfolk State University campus on a regular basis when George Allen was Governor and Allen singled out VA's two black univerities--Norfolk State and and Virginia State--to take a hit that was approximately 4x larger than the hit taken by other state universities such as Old Domininion University. Across the board the average hit by the white universities was a 2.7 % cut. NSU and VA State budgets were cut by 10%.
These colleges were already operating on a bare bones budget before the hit. ODU continued to build and expand and NSU could not even expand and update the most crucial buidling on a University...it's library. Raising Kaine has more info
George Allen started supporting Black Universities when he started to get the idea of national office in his head...Hampton University President Willam Harvey supports Allen and contributed $2,100 to Allen's campaign on 4/20/06. Anyone who know HU's president, William Harvey, knows that he is a wealthy, Republican and a Bush supporter. Harvey has a history of suppressing Free Speech on HU's campus and hus administration has set up obstacles preventing HU students from creating progressive student groups at HU. They have tried for years to set up a college Amnesty International group. It's not much of a stretch to wonder if William Harvey supported (if not actively campaigned) for Allen to recieve the Thurgood Marshall Community Leadership Award. This award would have helped Allen counter his known history of racism.
However, the African American community could not accept George Allen receiving this award. They stood their ground, refused to continue their economic support of the fund if Allen were to get the reward. They REFUSED to honor Senator George Allen due to his history of racism. I applauded this action.
So why are a few black men now coming to Allen's defense? It makes no sense especially when one of them is a VA Democratic Senator.
It makes no sense. I wonder what is going on in the back rooms of Virginia politics?
It smells dirty and nasty.
It's well known that Allen is no friend to the African American community. He raises his own salary multiple times and won't support raising minimum wage. He did not support the Holiday for the great Martin Luther King. He gets horrible ratings from the NAACP and civil rights groups.
There is no disputing the fact that Webb is a better Senator for the African American Community than Allen could ever hope to be.
I'm including Harris Miller and his loyal devotees in this sell out crowd. Harris Miller was spoken of as a LOYAL DEMOCRAT and a great supporter of the Democrat party. That was the major reason multitudes of Harris supporters gave me as the reason to back this "lobbyist...."
I see Harris Miller is sitting on the sidelines acting like a sore loser. Miller PROMISED during his primary campaign that he would support the winner of the primary. He tried to make it an issue that Webb would be the one to not support him. Unfortunately, Harris Miller is validating the reason why I refused to vote for him. I didn't trust what I was told about this "alleged" great party Democrat....
I wish Harris Miller would prove me wrong and get off the sidelines and do what he promised to do....Support Jim Webb. Maybe he needs reminding that no one likes a sore loser? Maybe he needs to remember that he once had a reputation that he was a loyal democrat that he still has time to save? Or Maybe he's going to do a Joe Lieberman and become an independent republican?
Folks have been talking for years now about creating or joining a third party in VA. IF this elections is lost due to the VA DEMS self-destructing they are going to see so many people leave the party it's going to make their heads spin.
So Virginia Democrats you have a choice. The choice is to unite and get behind your winning candidate or fragment into pieces and lose whatever power you still have remaining.
All of us need to ask ourselves one very important question. Who will win and who will lose if Allen gets re-elected as Virginia's Senator?
VA and the United States deserves better than George Allen.
I hope the Dems will unite. This really is a race the Democrats can win. This really is a race that can strengthen the Democratic party and help all of us get our local, state, and federal governments tosteer a new course that safeguards and benefits all of us instead of an elite few.
Is Eric Cantor outraged about ABC's Path to 9/11?
I wonder if Cantor believes that a "fair and accurate portrayal" of 9/11 is important. We should ask him if he is concerned about ABC's "Path to 9/11" mockumentary.
A number of Republicans exerted pressure on CBS about "The Reagan's" miniseries. CBS decided not to air the program on it's network. Why are Republicans now criticizing Democrats for expressing their concern about ABC's Path to 9/11?
I don't think the best solution to the rampant media bias existing today is partisan politics. We should ask all of our representatives and senators to see that the Fairness Doctrine is brought back to life. The Fairness Doctrine served us well and with today's media distortions it is needed now more than ever before. We need to bring back some semblance of balance to our media.

Thelma Drake Is Counting On Money...
When is enough money enough? Thelma has already surpassed the national average for Republican House members (average is $1,238,924 Thelma has 1,408,438 and counting) and she has more cash on hand than the average (average 370,287 and Thelma has 708, 487).
Does Thelma think that anything can be bought? Even a US House seat? She seems to be running her campaign on this belief. Her opponent has raised half as much money (704,077).
When is enough enough Thelma?
I think that Thelma knows her record won't win her seat back. So she's going to try to buy it back using tv and radio ads.
I'd rather have a representative running on their record. Thelma is simply trying to buy herself a House seat.
So why not come out and let Laura Bush know that Thelma Drake doesn't need any more money.
Laura Bush should be working to rasie money for a much worthier cause....like helping Hurricane Katrina survivors! Or how about raising money to help wounded vets who are amputees? Come on Laura you can do better than this.
