John McCain says he stopped beating his wife....a couple of weeks ago.
What a jokester that John McCain is. However it is NOT okay for John McCain, a potential presidential candidate, to make comments about beating his wife. (Source)
A comment like this is as bad as macaca....
Does Norfolk VA hold it's public officials to a higher standard than the U.S. government? If so, then our country is in major trouble. The folks I know in Norfolk are VERY disappointed in the arrogance of their city council. But Norfolk did fire an assistant city manager when he made a reference in a meeting about beating his wife....

ATF Raids Blackwater and seizes illegal arms
On Tuesday the ATF raided Blackwater's armory and seized dozens of illegal automatic weapons.
Blackwater had purchased the weapons in the name of NC's Camden County Sherriff's Office.

Quote of the Month
"The fact that John McCain’s top advisor says that a terrorist attack on American soil would be a ‘big advantage’ for their political campaign is a complete disgrace, and is exactly the kind of politics that needs to change. Barack Obama will turn the page on these failed policies and this cynical and divisive brand of politics so that we can unite this nation around a common purpose to finish the fight against al Qaeda.”--Bill Burton Obama campaign spokesman
Charles Gibson is hard to stomach these days
Suddenly Charles Gibson is speaking out against the "unfairness" of money in Presidential campaigns. This is the same Charles Gibson who has been silent for the long period of time when Republicans had lots more money than the Dems. Suddenly he's interested in fairness? Does Gibson think that anything he says on this topic can be taken to the bank?
The solution is for the corporate media to provide free air time on radio and tv for the presidential candidates but Gibson won't go there. This "free" air time would be their payment for using the public airwaves....something these corporations have done so far without any payment into the public coffers.
IMO, Charles Gibson is a typical corporate media huckster.

Justice in Britain and the USA
Believe it or not....Britain bans Martha Stewart from visiting but welcomes George Bush and his cronies.....talk about injustice.
Wonder how Martha managed to get "prosecuted" and Senator Frist got off "scot-free" for his alleged insider trading...Heck Frisk never even got into a courtroom.

MoveOn.Org is Calling Obama Out!!
I LOVE LIBERALS, LEFTISTS OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL US. We do not march in fascist lockstep with anyone and we do everything we can to hold our representatives and our government accountable.
MoveOn.org on is asking folks to call Obama and tell him he needs to keep his word....He needs to filibuster and stop the telecom immunity clause in the new FISA bill. I'm taking it one step farther. ASK FOR A REFUND IF OBAMA REFUSES TO KEEP HIS WORD.
If Obama will follow through on his word and make participatory democracy a reality then I will continue to give him money.......

How will BO justify selling out?
FIRST--TELECOM IMMUNITY IS A BIPARTISAN ISSUE. This is not just the crazy "Frankenstein villagers of the far left" condemning telecom immunity....but I bet our alleged leaders will try to spin it that way. The American people are speaking out against shredding our constitution and our rule of law. What the House did yesterday has disillusioned the vast majority of folks in this country NOT just on the left...There is NOTHING benefiting the public interest in the concept of telecom immunity and the American people understand that this is the ultimate rape and we are forced to pay for the vaseline. Yesterday's post has a youtube of Cspan callers-- REPUBLICANS, Democrats, and Independents. EVERY CALLER was shocked, disgusted, and appalled with what Congress was doing. The people get it but Congress doesn't. (On the Cspan show I only heard ONE caller happy with the Congressional decision and he was definitely an extreme right winger. "For the first time" the people of America made me very proud and our leaders shamed our country.
I am shocked and appalled that OB "chose" to sell out. I waited with bated breath for his press release. Feingold is correct and honestly direct when he said this is NOT a compromise it's capitulation and there's no reason for this....not if we honestly have a two party system in this country. Surely my most hopeful candidate, OB, would speak out strongly against this injustice to the people. Unfortunately I only got a rude awakening.
The telecom immunity clause crushes the brave Americans who worked within the system to try to do the job that Congress was NOT doing....the people who stepped up took the burden upon themselves to protect our Constitution and our rule of law by utilizing America's justice system. So Congress and BO spring into action to PREVENT Americans from getting the accountability and rule of law that is our birthright? Congress and BO REFUSE to hold anyone accountable, REFUSE to honor their oath of office and they do Bush's dirty work and cut Americans off at the knees who attempt to make the "elite" accountable.
So Obama now faces a true test. He promotes participatory democracy....IF he is true to his word then we will see Obama change course and strike out strongly in words and deeds to strip the telecom immunity clause from that bill.
This is my hope for the Obama for president campaign. And it is not because I'm a Frankenstein villager of the left. It is because I am an American who continues to hope.

Bush's Rubber Stamp in Virginia Beach
Thelma Drake is so predictable. Once again she is going to vote against the constitution she swore to protect and she will vote to shred the checks and balances our founders set up.
Thelma Drake SUPPORTS immunity for the telecommunications corporations who "allegedly" agreed to break the law and illegally wiretap Americans.
The telecom immunity will prevent Americans from having their rightful day in court. It prevents our judicial system from doing their job.
The corporate lobbyists and republican right wing extremists will say that the corporations are "patriotic" and are innocent.
These so-called "patriotic" corporations stopped the surveillance when the Bush administration got behind on their payments for this service. So much for the patriotism argument.
Innocent? I believe they are guilty. I believe they KNEW they were breaking the law. IF the telecommunication corporations are so "innocent" why are they spending so much money to lobby Congress for immunity?
The telecommunications immunity does not serve the public's interests. It serves the interests of corporations and Bush and Cheney. It enables Bush and Cheney to escape accountability.
Thelma Drake has consistently voted AGAINST holding the Bush administration accountable.
Thelma Drake continues to exhibit an inability to change course...Hopefully the people of Virginia Beach will vote their interests this election and oust Thelma Drake from the House.

RED ALERT....CONTACT Your HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE ASAP
This morning you can step up to the plate and do your part to protect our "American" system of government. Contact your House Representative/ Let them know that you expect them to honor their oath and protect the constitution and the rule of law in America. They should vote against the telecommunication immunity.
The telecommunication corporate lobbyists have obviously managed to buy off both Republicans and Democrats. There is nothing in the concept of telecommunication immunity from illegal wiretaps that is in the public interest. American citizens have NOT been contacting Congress to circumvent the rule of law. ONLY Corporate fatcats and their lobbyists have the audacious gall to request the right to live outside the rule of law.
I have emailed my house representative and both Senators. I will follow up with a phone call to my house representative.
I even took the time to contact my Republican Senator John Warner. I am hoping that just once before he retires he will place a crucial vote that I agree with. Best case scenario....the house will kill this vote today and my email to the Senators will not be necessary.
But since Senator Warner is retiring...I will enclose what is probably my last email to him....just for fun.
I worked in the medical field and I follow the maxim to "Do no harm." I am requesting that you "do no harm" and vote to protect the rights of your constituents.
Never in the history of my country do I recall an American citizen (the kind that walks on two legs and depends on air and water for daily survival) asking their Senator or Representative to rewrite a law granting them immunity from a crime they have committed and from future crimes they may commit. Can you imagine?
The American people believe in accountability and a rule of law. I am writing to request that you honor your oath of office and protect our constitution and the checks and balances this document has placed into our government system that have served us so well since the birth of this nation.
I believe that the telecommunications corporations knowingly broke the law when the notorious Bush administration asked them to. Qwest Communications REFUSED the request by the White House and so they are not going to court on this matter. The other telecommunications corporations should have done the right thing.
But the corporations say they are innocent. Then the courts should be allowed to do their job. (I seriously doubt that these corporations believe they are innocent with the money they are spending to lobby Congress to write a law making them immune from prosecution.)
IF Congress grants immunity to the corporations and circumvents the rule of law in America it will be a dark day that will be indelibly stamped in history.
I pray you will do the right thing before you retire Senator Warner. The concept of immunizing the telecommunications industry is "un-American" to the highest degree....there is NOTHING in this concept that is in the public's interest and it is NOT the public that coneintues to pressure Congress to pass this bill.
Protect the constitution and the rule of law in America. Vote against the telecommunication immunity.
Sincerely,
Star Womanspirit

US General states Bush WH Committed War Crimes
According to retired U.S. Major General Antonia Taguba, "There is no longer any doubt as to whether the current administration has committed war crimes. The only question is whether those who ordered torture will be held to account." (Source)
No wonder George Bush is enjoying his world tour at the U.S. taxpayers expense. He maybe restricted to the USA if he wants to avoid prosecution for war crimes.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE....
Sign this petition telling Congress know we want our constitution and the rule of law restored.
The Congressional Democrats need to STOP playing politics and honor the oath they took.
Kucinich is going to continue to do his duty and press the case for impeachment. The House Judiciary Committee and Rep. Conyers are playing politics and PROTECTING the Bush Regime according to the Decider--Nancy Pelosi's orders.
You can keep updated by visiting Kucinich's web site.
If impeachment proceedings are NOT started there's a strong possibility that Cheney and Bush will laundh a nuclear attack on Iran right after the November elections. Why is Congress even taking a chance of this happening. Starting impeachment proceedings NOW would prevent this from happening.
Contact your representative NOW and tell them to support Impeachment proceedings.

Congress is FINALLY holding some hearings; "allegations" against the Bush regime are being proven true.
Congressional investigations CONFIRM that the torture utilized by our military is NOT (as Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld told us) just a few rogue soldiers (who are currently in the brig serving serious time) . Those soldiers in the brig were simply carrying out orders from policy developed by top military leaders INCLUDING RUMSFELD (and probably Bush and Cheney too).....
So will our rule of law be enforced and these "bigwigs" brought to trial? Will Justice be returned to America? Stay tuned.....this Congress is liable to do anything.
Most recent evidence that this Democratic Congress is pandering to corporate interest instead of restoring the rule of law. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are at it again....betraying their oath of office and NOT defending our constitution and the inherent checks and balances built into our governmental system. Instead, they are pulling the rug out from under our courts, and allowing Bush to have his way....The telecommunications industry is on course to get it's congress approved immunity. American citizens will be wrongfully denied our day in court.
So what will it take to get the military generals AND the telecommunications corporations into a court of law where they belong? Will the democratic party choose new congressional leaders who will uphold their oaths of office and restore the rule of law to our land?

John Pilger - The War On Democracy - Parts 7 & 8 of 10
Here are Parts 7 and 8 of War on Democracy by John Pilger, the award-winning Australian journalist and filmmaker, a documentary that has been making its way through the Internet.
Part 7 gets into the nuts and bolts of the School of the Americas (School of the Assassins) and the Death Squads of El Salvador in particular:
Part 8 deals with the "sophisticated" economic model known as Neo-Liberalism that Milton Friedman and the "Chicago Boys" foisted on Latin America, enriching the few and impoverishing the many, somewhat like serfdom, while keeping Latin America economies in lockstep with US Corporate profits in the same way that a vampire attaches his fangs to a victim's neck. Crush labor, keep wages low, open everything up to American investments until foreign capital owns most of the country:

BLACKWATER: THE CRUSADE
If you aren't alarmed by Blackwater, you should be. They have already been deployed within America, to wit, in New Orleans during Katrina. Hundreds of them were sent there by Erik Prince before a contract was even formally signed. By their own account, they killed American citizens in the Lower Ninth Ward, "black gang-bangers" one of them bragged to Jeremy Scahill, whose voice you will hear on this video.
But the worst of it is that there are stories and rumors that they killed a lot more Blacks than a few "gang-bangers". How many? A couple of dozen, a couple of hundred, a couple of thousand? This is what independent journalists are trying to find out.
Blackwater is growing like a cancer globally. They are the most psychotic expression yet of privatization, militarism and an alienated, machine culture enraptured with war and death. Some day they may be patrolling your neighborhood, looking for "Hajis" to gun down, maybe getting a little paranoid and blowing away a car or two full of women and children, like they did last September 16 in Baghdad's Nusoor Square. Imagine that happening to your family and you might begin to understand why there is a vast resistance movement in Iraq.
