Then we'll proceed to the Naro Cinema to watch the Al Franken film God Spoke. Movie is $8.00 and Naro ticketbooks are accepted.

Protest Deployment of War Ships to Iran
An early deployment of the Eisenhower Strike Group will depart Norfolk Tuesday, Oct 3rd.
The Strike Group is scheduled to arrive off the coast of Iran on or about October 21.
The nuclear aircraft carrier has been in the Norfolk port for several years refurbishing and was not scheduled to depart for at least another month.
Demand an immediate end to Washington’s campaign of sanctions, hostility, and falsehood against the people of Iran.
Oppose any new U.S. aggression against Iran.
Demand money for human needs, not endless war.

This is a great instance of the power of local indymedia....Mosquito hears that reporters have been contacting local peace activists wondering how they "discovered" the Eisenhower departure date when "they" hadn't been able to obtain the information. Hmm....Buzz...Buzz

Majority of Israeli people prefer diplomatic solution
The majority of the Israeli people believe a diplomatic solution is the key to peace in the middle east. 67% of Israelis want their government to negotiate a peace agreement with the Palestinian unity government. A majority--57%--believe the negotiations should include Hamas. A sixable minority--43%--oppose negotiations with Hamas.
The majority of Palestinians--59%--support negotiations. 38% of the Palestinians oppose negotiations.
I find our MSM continues to fail us with un biased news coverage when they fail to inform us of polls in middle eastern countries. What the people directly involved prefer is an important factor to take into account when decideing what our foreign policy should be.

Loyalty is NOT always a virtue....
Misplaced loyalty is definitely NOT a virtue....
I'm an independent...I support Jim Webb.
I got to thinking what I would do if the "shoe" was on the other foot....If Jim Webb was guilty of racism and his behavior was finally catching up with him...what would I do?
Being independent, thinking for myself, and not willing to just go along to get along...I would have to renounce my support of Mr. Webb if that was the situation....
In fact, after contemplating Vivian Paige's writings I had some dialogues with friends and realized that the Webb campaign had failed to "activate" their base. I understand some folks are working to correct this situation.
So why does someone have blind loyalty? Why will they go down with someone who, if given the opportunity, would be the first to jump off the ship?
I'm creative but this is just blowing my mind....
So if you are a Republican and continue to support Allen....despite all the evidence....Why do you remain loyal?
If you are a Republican and have lost faith in George Allen...what do you do now?
I'm starting to believe that being the member of a political party in a two party system is not the best action for America in these times....I prefer to vote for the BEST candidate for the job.
In this VA Senate Race there's no longer a contest. Jim Webb is the best man for the job of representing Virginians and Americans in the Senate.
Who knows, if we get enough Jim Webb types elected, over time, we may be able to honestly call it the United States Senate once again.
In the meantime, how many Republicans will put party first and Virginia last?

Here's a GREAT South American Leader--Evo Morales
Mosquito has written alot about Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez because a balanced picture is not presented in the United States. Much like the build up to war in Iraq (and now Iran) the propaganda machine goes into gear to activate Americans on a foundation of lies.
So I have taken it upon myself to defend Hugo Chavez. Sometimes it is difficult to do because Chavez sometimes runs his mouth and blusters too much...for example, calling President Bush a devil (yes Chavez has a grudge b/c the US has financed a coup and a previous assasination attempt..and continues to try to COLONIZE South America)....but calling Bush the Devil at the UN is not a productive exercise.
The Bolivian President Evo Morales is definitely my personal preference. He displays more of the indigenous politics that are sweeping the South (including my beloved Zapatistas in Mexico).
Take a little time and get to know this incredible man. Here is an hour long interview....If we could only get a man with his nature to lead our country.....

The Changing Face of Hampton Roads
I remember when it was difficult to get a crowd together for anything progressive in Hampton Roads. This has changed in the last few years thanks to the efforts of a number of Hampton Roads citizens such as Steve and Kim Baggerly and their Catholic Workers, Tom of the Gaia Circle, Tench at the Naro Cinema, Jean and Star of The iMage Project and the World Dreams Peace Bridge, the Emanuels in Va Beach with their monthly salons, Dani Vedros and David Gordon and their Second Saturday Salon, Tom Palumbo, Ann Williams, and George Ibarro of the the Southern Eye, Whit Peace, Alexandra Kedrock and the rest of the folk at Hampt0n Roads Network for Nonviolence, Susan Posey and her annual Fair Trade Festival, J.P and his friends with Food Not Bombs, Alma Kessling and Bev Sell and their work in Five Points, the local farmer markets, the folks at the 40th Street Theatre, Ann Hageman and the Equality VA community....These folks and others have come together to create a thriving prgressive network.
Last year a coalition of over twenty groups formed The Tidewater Peace Alliance. This organization worked with the Naro Cinema and started their work with The Light into Darkness Peace Film Festival last December.
The Unitarian Church hosted a celebration of the United Nations Day of Peace last night. This event was sponsored by The Tidewater Peace Alliance, the Naro Cinema, the Studio for the HEaling Arts, and a long list of local progressive organizations. 150 folks shared a night of inspirational speeches, dance, singing, and interactions with each other. It was definitely a warm community gathering.
This weekend the Green Film Festival continues...Naro will be showing a number of great films including Who Killed the Electric Car. There will also be seminars at the nearby Studio for the Healing Arts.
On Sunday evening i a new, important documentary--raq for Sale:The War Profiteers--will be shown. This is a new documentary and it's a must see for anyone planning to vote on November 7.
On Friday night, The film God and Gays: Bridging the Gap wukk be sgiwb, Nel White (Soulforce) and the producer and Director will be on hand to discuss the film. This is another must see film with the Marshall Neuman amendment on the ballot.

Net Neutrality is still on the block....
The telecommunications industry continues to pressure Congress to eliminate Net Neutrality. Senator Stevens, at this time, does NOT have the 60 votes needed to prevent a filibuster. If he can't muster the 60 votes net neutrality will be safe until the new congress reconvenes. IF that new Congress has a democratic majority in the Senate, Net Neutrality will probably be safe....but don't count on anything.
Here's a list of the Senators. Generally, an unknown is someone who is not declaring to their constituents their stance. This issue is not new....I find it hard to believe that the Senators have not researched and studied the issue, especially since so many bills were supposed to make it to the floor on this issue.
So check the list and please contact these people...The telecommunications keep the pressure on daily. We've been able to fend off the big money interest but it's only been through dilegence and perseverance. If you haven't discussed net neutrality with your Senators or representatvie pleace so do in the near future.

This is for Rocinante's Burdens
I couldn't find a way to comment on your Allen vs. Webb piece so I'm blogging this just for you.
After reading your post I believe this video is a must see for you. The video you want is titled "This is Absurd."
Expect more spin and dirt. After, all Senator Allen who pledges a "clean" campaign hired the original swiftboater to run his.
If you are looking for a candidate who runs on the issues you need to take a good long look at Jim Webb. I support Webb because of his character, his experience, and after lots of research.
I refuse to support George Allen because I know him. He prefers to support the corporate elite instead of me. He prefers to divide people not unite them. The disastrous War in Iraq, Rising Gas Prices (which will rise again after the election), and war profiteering are not in my best interests. Staying the course and allowing incompetents to continue to run the show with no accountability is not good government policy. Neing a rubber stamp for George Bush is bankrupting America.
Forget the labels, forget the party nonsense...Vote for the best candidate who will represent the interests of most Americans not a few wealthy elitists.
Buzz...Buzz...

Nations Gather for Peace and Cooperation
The Non-Aligned Movement
The Fourteenth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement--NAM--will conclude today in Cuba.
NAM--is an international organization consisting of over 100 countries. The NAM countries make up 2/3 of the United Nations and contain 55% of the world's population. Nam was formed in 1954, and its purpose is "the national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of non-aligned countries in their struggle against imperialism, colonialism, neo-colonialism, apartheid, racism, Zionism, and all forms of foreign aggression, occupation, domination, interference or hegemony as well as against great power and bloc politics"
NAM has five prinicples:
1. Mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty
2. Mutual non-aggression
3. Mutual non-interference in domestic affairs
4. Equality and mutual benefit
5. Peaceful co-existence
NAM has the potential to develop into a power to fend off the Corporate Globalization plans.

Bush and Rove have a $450 Million Dollar Slush Fund
Camada and the United States signed the Softwood Lumber agreement on Tueday, Sept 13.
$450 million dollars is now in a White House Slush Fund. Money that really belongs to the Canadian people....or the American people.
Money that can be used to to illegally influence the 2006 elections. The agreeement bypassed all the normal channels, including Congress so there is no oversight and no accountability for this money. Rove and Bush can set it up to spend it anyway they wish. Many in the Canadian parliament are already calling this the slush fund for stealing the 2006 US election.
This is more money that the Democratic National Committee has it it's cofffers....It is approximately equal to what the Repuclican National Committee has in their war chest.
So...why is everything so quiet out there. Obviously our Attorney General refuses to enforce any laws when it comes to the White House.
Where's the uproar?

Catholic Workers arrested at Oceana Air Show
Friends,
On Saturday, September 9th, five Virginia and North
Carolina Catholic Worker communities and friends
protested US warmaking during the annual NAS Oceana
Air Show. In the morning, 25 people held an hour and a
half vigil on Oceana Blvd. as cars drove by heading
into the base for the show. In the afternoon three
people, myself from the Norfolk Catholic Worker and
Bill Frankl-Streit and Brian Buckley from the Little
Flower Catholic Worker in Louisa Co. climbed on top of
an F-22 Raptor on display and held a banner reading
"Weapons of Mass Destruction--Nothing to Celebrate."
We were arrested and indefinately banned from the
base. We have yet to be charged but Naval Criminal
Investigation Services is considering pressing
trespassing and Destruction of Government Property
charges.
Attatched are a couple pics from the vigil and the
civil disobedience action. Please help spread the
word.

Iraqi Rebels control Western Iraq
CNN reported today that the "insurgents" now control Western Iraq not the US.
I know that it would have been as accurate to report this as the Iraqi rebels now control Western Iraq....
This war on terror is also a war of words. Too often the words used distort the truth.
I believe the term rebel is more accurate because it is the more familiar term in usuage in our country (pre terror world linguistic changes). It also means insurgent.
After all, 92 percent of the Iraqi's want the US to leave their country. They do not want a foreign occupation.
It's time for the Bush administration to listen to the people of America and Iraq. The majority of Americans and Iraqi's want the US to stop using it's military as a foreign occupation force in Iraq.
No amount of propaganda from Bush, his Rove droves, and their partners in our mainstream media are going to change the will of the people. We are still currently legally entitled choose for ourselves what we want. Hopefully Bush's limits to our freedoms in the name of national security won't change this fact anytime soon.
When is Bush going to listen to the people? If he won't...when are we going to force him to listen?
Insurgent

Olympia Snowe--Maine's Republican Senator
Olympia Snowe, the 59 year old Republican Senator from Maine is known as "an unlikely Internet heroine." Maine has no major technology headquarters. Snowe even admits she's not proficient on the web.
But Snowe has surfaced as a key leader in the congressional battle to preserve Net Neutrality.
Snowe has taken on both her party leadership and their corporate masters, refused to rubber stamp the Republican corporate agenda, and stands firm in support of her constituents.
She is one of those rare Republicans who knows how to work in a bi-partisan way. She co-sponsored a bill--The Internet Preservation Act--with North Dakota's Senator Byron Dorgan (D) which allowed the current rules of Net Neutrality to continue.
Snowe displays a better understanding of the internet than Ted Stevens. She stated:
Maine should be proud of Olympia Snowe. I would be pleased to have someone of her caliber to represent me. Here is a Republican protecting our freedom, not restricting it. That is becoming rare in today's "Republican terror war world."
I wish we could transplant some of her backbone into Senator John Warner....who still has not taken a public stand on Net Neutrality. (I'm still waiting for the Congressional investigation on torture that Warner promised the country.)
As far as rubber stamp George Allen? How could I "omit" him. An entire Olympia Snowe spinal transplant wouldn't do the trick. He lacks the integrity or ethics to know what to do with a spine. Bullies have no spine and no one wants them to.
George Allen is on record as AGAINST Net Neutrality. Unfortunately, Allen prefers to represent the telecommunications industry over his constituents and has received a lot of money for his campaign coffers.
Please contact Senator John Warner and ask him to take a public stand supporting Net Neutrality. It's a no brainer. This is the bill that pits the telecommunications corporation against his constituents. Remind Warner that constituents vote.
I think Allen has forgotten that fact.

“What has made the Internet such a remarkable success is the ability of people everywhere to experience a world of their own choosing on their own terms. This freedom has fostered an unprecedented exchange of information and ideas that has led to an explosion in consumer choice, the creation of new businesses, and the spread of democratic ideals around the globe. Unfortunately, if Congress does not act, the age of digital democracy will come to an end. Senator Dorgan and I introduced the Internet Freedom Preservation Act to prevent fundamental changes to the internet that would undo the democratic principles upon which it was founded.”

Dirt is muddying Virginia's Politics
I get angry when I hear anyone say that George Allen has historically supported Black colleges and universities. It's a lie. I was on the Norfolk State University campus on a regular basis when George Allen was Governor and Allen singled out VA's two black univerities--Norfolk State and and Virginia State--to take a hit that was approximately 4x larger than the hit taken by other state universities such as Old Domininion University. Across the board the average hit by the white universities was a 2.7 % cut. NSU and VA State budgets were cut by 10%.
These colleges were already operating on a bare bones budget before the hit. ODU continued to build and expand and NSU could not even expand and update the most crucial buidling on a University...it's library. Raising Kaine has more info
George Allen started supporting Black Universities when he started to get the idea of national office in his head...Hampton University President Willam Harvey supports Allen and contributed $2,100 to Allen's campaign on 4/20/06. Anyone who know HU's president, William Harvey, knows that he is a wealthy, Republican and a Bush supporter. Harvey has a history of suppressing Free Speech on HU's campus and hus administration has set up obstacles preventing HU students from creating progressive student groups at HU. They have tried for years to set up a college Amnesty International group. It's not much of a stretch to wonder if William Harvey supported (if not actively campaigned) for Allen to recieve the Thurgood Marshall Community Leadership Award. This award would have helped Allen counter his known history of racism.
However, the African American community could not accept George Allen receiving this award. They stood their ground, refused to continue their economic support of the fund if Allen were to get the reward. They REFUSED to honor Senator George Allen due to his history of racism. I applauded this action.
So why are a few black men now coming to Allen's defense? It makes no sense especially when one of them is a VA Democratic Senator.
It makes no sense. I wonder what is going on in the back rooms of Virginia politics?
It smells dirty and nasty.
It's well known that Allen is no friend to the African American community. He raises his own salary multiple times and won't support raising minimum wage. He did not support the Holiday for the great Martin Luther King. He gets horrible ratings from the NAACP and civil rights groups.
There is no disputing the fact that Webb is a better Senator for the African American Community than Allen could ever hope to be.
I'm including Harris Miller and his loyal devotees in this sell out crowd. Harris Miller was spoken of as a LOYAL DEMOCRAT and a great supporter of the Democrat party. That was the major reason multitudes of Harris supporters gave me as the reason to back this "lobbyist...."
I see Harris Miller is sitting on the sidelines acting like a sore loser. Miller PROMISED during his primary campaign that he would support the winner of the primary. He tried to make it an issue that Webb would be the one to not support him. Unfortunately, Harris Miller is validating the reason why I refused to vote for him. I didn't trust what I was told about this "alleged" great party Democrat....
I wish Harris Miller would prove me wrong and get off the sidelines and do what he promised to do....Support Jim Webb. Maybe he needs reminding that no one likes a sore loser? Maybe he needs to remember that he once had a reputation that he was a loyal democrat that he still has time to save? Or Maybe he's going to do a Joe Lieberman and become an independent republican?
Folks have been talking for years now about creating or joining a third party in VA. IF this elections is lost due to the VA DEMS self-destructing they are going to see so many people leave the party it's going to make their heads spin.
So Virginia Democrats you have a choice. The choice is to unite and get behind your winning candidate or fragment into pieces and lose whatever power you still have remaining.
All of us need to ask ourselves one very important question. Who will win and who will lose if Allen gets re-elected as Virginia's Senator?
VA and the United States deserves better than George Allen.
I hope the Dems will unite. This really is a race the Democrats can win. This really is a race that can strengthen the Democratic party and help all of us get our local, state, and federal governments tosteer a new course that safeguards and benefits all of us instead of an elite few.
Is Eric Cantor outraged about ABC's Path to 9/11?
Seventh District Congressman Eric Cantor wrote a letter to CBS in October 2003 expressing concerns about the portrayal of President Reagan in "The Reagans" miniseries. He wanted to insure a "fair and accurate portrayal" of President Reagan.
I wonder if Cantor believes that a "fair and accurate portrayal" of 9/11 is important. We should ask him if he is concerned about ABC's "Path to 9/11" mockumentary.
A number of Republicans exerted pressure on CBS about "The Reagan's" miniseries. CBS decided not to air the program on it's network. Why are Republicans now criticizing Democrats for expressing their concern about ABC's Path to 9/11?
I don't think the best solution to the rampant media bias existing today is partisan politics. We should ask all of our representatives and senators to see that the Fairness Doctrine is brought back to life. The Fairness Doctrine served us well and with today's media distortions it is needed now more than ever before. We need to bring back some semblance of balance to our media.

Is Al Queda trying to influence our elections once again? It's "interesting" how an Al Gueada tape surfaces once again during a crucial election year. It's almost like the neo cons and Al Gueda have the same playbook.
The CIA concluded that Al Queda wanted Bush to be re-elected in 2004. I guess Al Queda wants to reinforce the fear that the Republicans are trying to cram down our throats before this crucial election.
Well in VA I can't think of a better remedy for fear than Jim Webb. Better to have a warrior Senator than a dude ranch cowboy I say.
We need competence not incompetence, we need accountability not continued irresponsible and incompetent management of our nation, and we need answers to what has gotten us into this mess so we can steer a different more productive course.
All of us need to face our fears and think things through. Panic will only drive us down the same old path Rove and Bush have tried sending us down before. It's time for us to take responsibility and help steer our nation back to reason and reality.
Stand Brave and continue working to introduce the best option we have--Jim Webb--to our state's citizens and Get Out The Vote!

911 Truth Telling-President wants Senate to hurry with new anti-terrorism laws
Did ABC, Disney, and the Republican neocons think that we wouldn't be able to bring up the REAL WORLD HISTORY?
Looks like the Republicans were botching the terrorism fight back in 1996.
President wants Senate to hurry with new anti-terrorism laws

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Clinton urged Congress Tuesday to act swiftly in developing anti-terrorism legislation before its August recess. (1.6 MB AIFF or WAV sound)sound icon
"We need to keep this country together right now. We need to focus on this terrorism issue," Clinton said during a White House news conference.
But while the president pushed for quick legislation, Republican lawmakers hardened their stance against some of the proposed anti-terrorism measures.

Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Mississippi, doubted that the Senate would rush to action before they recess this weekend. The Senate needs to study all the options, he said, and trying to get it done in the next three days would be tough.
One key GOP senator was more critical, calling a proposed study of chemical markers in explosives "a phony issue."

Originally from Richmond, Greg Greenway is a rare combination of instrumental expertise, soulful and moving singer, powerful poet, and sparkling entertainer--one of those difficult-to-categorize performers who have found a home in the modern acoustic genre. Musically, he draws inspiration from all over the map--gospel, rock, blues, Jazz, and world music. But his center is in the singer/songwriter tradition that traces its roots all the way back to the social awareness of Woody Guthrie. To learn more about Greg and his music, go to www.GregGreenway.com.
Wishing Chair is known for their engaging performances, haunting harmonies and award winning songs. Any subject is fair game: from politics to coal strikes, punk bars to Calamity Jane. As Euan Bear writes, "Wishing Chair has a passion about the truth, about being emotionally available to tell it, and that for me, is the essence of folk music." MUST SEE TV...FORGET the Path to 911...WATCH THIS
Unlike the FICTIONAL Path to 911 that ABC and Disney are airing to influence our national elections in favor of Bush, Cheney, Rove and the neo-con Republicans.....
This news show about Katrina is FACTUAL, ACCURATE and must see viewing for all Americans.
Here's Part One
Here's Part Two
Now ask yourself why our government threatened the hurricane expert for coming forth to tell us the truth?
Why is Homeland Security now launching an investigation on the BBC reporter--Greg Palast--and the director of the footage?
NOTE: The FACTS in this story are not contested. They are accurate. BUT it's now illegal to film Bush's major donor...EXXON.
WOW...anything to stop a reporter from covering the news. They only want stenographers pretending to be reporters these days. BUSH and CHENEY have too much too hide. Unfortunately most of the reporters these days are nothing more than Bush lapdogs.

Hampton Roads IndyMedia Coalition
I know we like to fuss about the MSM. They've done such a poor job of reporting issues of importance.
A free, independent press is crucial in a democracy. A group of Hampton Roads citizens took matters into their own hands and created the Hampton Roads Indy Media Coalition. This group is affiliated with the global Indymedia network.
Now, Hampton Roads is no longer dependent on the MSM press--Va Pilot and Daily Press--or the MSM televeision news. This group is affiliated with the worldwide Indymedia network. Gloabalization activists created Indymedia to allow accurate coverage of what activists are doing. They realized the corporate controlled media was not covering the globalization movement. If the media "did" cover the globalization efforts it was always provided with a corporate slant.
For those of you with Dish Network you are already getting some great indymedia coverage on the linktv and free speech tv--FSTV--channels.
Now you can read news from local citizens on local, regional, and national issues and events at HRIMC.ORG
There's also a calendar where folks can post meetings and local happenings.
Check it out and participate. The IndyMedia has provided the platform so that local progressives can get their news out....
If Hampton Roads citizens get active and participate then this could become a force in Hampton Roads media and it is NOT corporate controlled.
You can participate by simply using the platforms provided....the website for publishing news....broadcast is coming soon....radio, video/tv, are coming soon. There's also a newspaper so your articles on the website might even end up in the local indy paper.
If you are interested in joining HRIMC and assisting with providing the media platforms you can work in the broadcast areas (website, radio and/or video podcasting....or the local paper).
The monthly meetings happen on the third Thursday evenings of each month at 7:30 pm. They meet in the comfy group meeting room of the Hershee Bar at 6117 Sewells Point Road, Norfolk, Virginia.

My Buzz on the Film--Path to 911
What Path to 9/11 Should Show—
1—The Secret Energy Task Force Meetings with Big Oil and VP Dick Cheney and their plans and schemes for the Iraqi Oil Fields.
2-The players involved in The Project for a New American Century and the desire for a new “Pearl Harbor” so they could launch their agenda.
3—The transition of the White House from the Clinton Team to the Bush Team…..The Bush team making fun of the Clinton team and Clinton's “obsession” with Osama Bin Laden and Al Queda.
4—The CIA is seriously concerned about an impending attack by Al Queda in the United States. It is so serious a threat that they must interrupt President Bush’s month long vacation at his ranch in Crawford Texas. A CIA agent is flown to Crawford to brief President Bush….At the end of the briefing Bush tells the CIA agent that his ass is now covered so he can go.
This report is given to other top officials in the Bush Administration….No one takes any action.
5. 9/11 occurs….show what all the top folks in the Bush Adminstration and the Pentagon are doing during the early morning hours and throughout the day….(Including the canceled airline travel that some were to take that morning).
6. Reenact the scene of George Bush reading the goat story to the children in the elementary school and show the discrepancies leading up to it (what he knew before he started reading and what he was told while reading the book)
7. President Bush finally boarding a plane and being flown to a secret bunker in the Midwest….until he surfaces to say I’m the President and I’m in charge.
8. The Bush White House grounds all planes.
9. The Bush White House gives approval for chartered jets to fly around the country picking up Osama Bin Laden’s relatives and flying them out of the country even though the FBI wanted to interrogate Bin Laden’s relatives.
10. Osama Bin Laden takes credit for the 9/11 tragedy.
11. Bushvows to get Osama Bin Laden Dead or Alive.
12. The EPA is told by the Bush administration to falsify their data and tell New Yorkers that the area around ground zero is safe.
13. No evidence from the building is kept…even though another building collapses that was not hit by a plane.
13. The discovery of unusual trading and stock options (including the airline industry) and how some got rich off of 9/11. This sort of trading results in an automatic investigation of the stock trades. In this case, no investigation has taken place.
14. Osama Bin Laden (very tall Arab who is on dialysis DAILY) cannot be found.
15. Resources are taken away from the hunt for the 9/11 villains and used to launch a war on a country and a people who had nothing to do with 9/11.
17. CIA concludes that Osama Bin Laden released a tape during Bush’s second election campaign in order to get Bush re-elected.
16. We are now stuck in an Iraq quagmire….millions have been made by Cheney, Haliburton, BIG OIL, and other Bush Cronies.
17. Osama Bin Laden is free, has bases in Pakistan that are now “allowed” by the Pakistani government, and he is able to continue his Al Queda operations.
18. Bush continues to stay the course, and the war profiteering is continuing….
19. The Body Count of how many US Troops, Iraqi troops, and Iragi civilians (men, women, and children) have died.
Are you kidding? It’s a crucial election and the corporations want to keep the feeding trough open. They are going to air a FICTIONALIZED version of the events blaming Clinton for 9-11.
ABC and Walt Disney want to keep a Corporate Controlled Congress in place.
Hopefully, the backlash from the American people will not only install a Democratic Congress but create a nationwide boycott of ABC and an international boycott of Walt Disney.

The True National Debt is not being reported...
According to the official U.S. Financial Report, released by the Treasury Department:
* The true 2005 deficit is $760 billion, not the $318.5 billion Bush reported
o This is 6.2% of the GDP, not 2.6%
o That's $156,000 for every citizen, or $375,000 for every working American
* The true national debt is $49 trillion, not the $8.3 trillion Bush reported
o This figure has more than doubled in the past five years
o We paid $327 billion last year on interest alone
* It's all getting worse
Due to the Government using a cash accounting basis this does not include future spending promises like Medicare and Social Security, or even future spending guarantees like veterans' benefits and federal employee pensions.
So the Debt is even bigger than this report.
Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN) released the report in the form of a book--What the White House Does Not Want You To Read--so the public can get the facts. Cooper said, "I think [the report] is the most powerful critique of the Bush Administration....No Republican can deny this attack (The report was produced by the Republican Administration)."
The Bush White House attempted to keep this report out of the public eye. They distributed the report to less than 20 members of Congress during the Christmas holiday season with no press release or media announcement. What do you want to bet that those 20 members were Republicans? (Or maybe the pseudo-democrat Joe Lieberman "might" have gotten a copy of the report.)
Hopefully progressive accountants will get a copy of this report and educate us some more.

Thelma Drake Is Counting On Money...
Thelma Drake is having another Fundraising Breakfast with First Lady Laura Bush. Unlike the Fundraiser with President George Bush, Thelma will show up for this one.
When is enough money enough? Thelma has already surpassed the national average for Republican House members (average is $1,238,924 Thelma has 1,408,438 and counting) and she has more cash on hand than the average (average 370,287 and Thelma has 708, 487).
Does Thelma think that anything can be bought? Even a US House seat? She seems to be running her campaign on this belief. Her opponent has raised half as much money (704,077).
When is enough enough Thelma?
I think that Thelma knows her record won't win her seat back. So she's going to try to buy it back using tv and radio ads.
I'd rather have a representative running on their record. Thelma is simply trying to buy herself a House seat.
So why not come out and let Laura Bush know that Thelma Drake doesn't need any more money.
Laura Bush should be working to rasie money for a much worthier cause....like helping Hurricane Katrina survivors! Or how about raising money to help wounded vets who are amputees? Come on Laura you can do better than this.

Thelma Drake Caught Red-Handed....again
Thelma Drake is now airing a Tv Ad where whe labels herself HONEST and INDEPENDENT.
Well Thelms is surely not independent with her rubber stamp 97% vptomg recprd/ She is not honest about this at all.
When a politician has to deceitfully label herself as Independent and shys away from her 97% Republican voting record...one has to think that Thelma knows her voting record is not one she can run on.
Yet her voting record is what voters need to make that important decision of who to vote for.
So, Thelma you've been caught red handed again!
Note: I use the term red handed in the same way my parents did. When I was caught "red-Handed" with my hand in the cookie jar.
You can see Thelma's latest ad here

Bush and Rove negotiate $450 million dollar slush fund from Canda
How in the world has this not set the blogosphere (and then the late to the party MSM) on fire?
Get this....in a trade negotiation between the USA and Canada $450 million will be funneled directly to the Bush Whitehouse to do whatever it wants with the money with no congressional oversight.
This is a 450 million dollar slush fund that Rove can use to steal our election....the Canadians have already described it as such.
The Dems in Congress better find their spines and speak up next week in outrage. This will either backfire in Rove's face or cost us the elections.....
This is a bi-partisan issue so I hope everyone, Democrats, Republicans, Greens, Independents will contact their reps and senators and ask them to take action to correct this asap. The Bush admin should have to account for this outrageous behavior.
What is with these folks? Don't they believe in democracy?

Secret Senate "Holder" is Outed on the anti-pork bill
This is rich. AK-Sen Ted "Bridge to Nowhere" Stevens is the one who placed the secret hold on the Anti-Pork Bill--S.2590--sponsored by Barack Obama and Tom Coburn.
(w-VA Senator Byrd had also placed a hold on the bill but released his hold after he was outed.)
Ted Stevens explains that he was concerned about the cost of the anti-pork bill...which is about $208 million LESS than his bridge to nowhere project. Stevens can't seem to fathom that others might see it as Stevens wanting to continue to raid our national treasury in secret.
This year, Senator Stevens also gave our very own Pat Robertson his own pork project. Stevens ushered the "Interstate Ramp for Pat Robertson's Real Estate Enrichment" through the Senate. This bill was passed through the U.S. House courtesy of Thelma Drake. The same Thelma "Tra La La" Drake who forgot to add this to her list of accomplishments on her website. Come on Thelma stand up and take credit for your handiwork to help out your dear friend Pat and his local real estate venture. Hmmmmm...I wonder if Thelma's real estate business will also get a kickback for this?

More Caca from Allen?
Senate man Senate man whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when we come for you?
It will be interesting to see how Senator Allen votes during the September session. Will he continue to ignore his constituents and back the Corporate powers that be? Is he going to continue to dismantle net neutrality? If he votes for Senator Stevens telecommunications bill net neutrality is gonna die.
Senator Allen are you going to expand federal powers and limit states rights? Will you defy all 50 US state governors? Will you vote to put the National Guard under Bush’s incompetent leadership?
How about making the President a king and beholden to no law in the land? Are you going to back that bill that will grant immunity for all the President’s men who violated the Geneva Convention and international law. Are you going to back Spector’s new wiretapping bill that will immunize all the President’s men for their illegal mis-behaviors. Actions that did not make us safer, btw. However, they sure have given the Republican Corporation—ChoicePoint—lots of private information on Americans. Information that will be used in the future to continue to divide not unify our country. Information that can be used by the Republican party to dismantle democracy and enshrine a one party rule in this country.
If you continue your bushwhacked voting record…I remind you… November's judgement day is just around the corner.

Act Now to Save the Internet
If you happen to see Allen or Warner out campaigning this weekend why not walk up and tell them face to face you want net neutrality. Ask them to support real Virginians. Tell them to stop selling us out to the highest bidding corporation.
The Info below is from Save the Internet
Sen. John W. Warner (R-VA)
Undeclared on Net Neutrality
Call Sen. Warner now at 804-771-2579
Say: "I urge Senator Warner to protect Net Neutrality, which prevents the largest phone and cable companies from controlling the Internet. I urge the Senator to vote NO on Senator Stevens' telecommunications bill (H.R. 5252 / S. 2686) unless real Net Neutrality language is added that prohibits network operators from discriminating against content and creating a tiered Internet."
Sen. George Allen (R-VA)
Against Net Neutrality
Call Sen. Allen now at 804-771-2221
Say: "I object to Senator Allen's stance against Net Neutrality. The senator should prevent the largest phone and cable companies from controlling the Internet. I urge Senator Allen to change his position and vote NO on Senator Stevens' telecommunications bill (H.R. 5252 / S. 2686) unless real Net Neutrality language is added that prohibits network operators from discriminating against content and creating a tiered Internet."

We will never win with Rumsfeld in charge of anything!
Rumsfeld spewed alot of rubbish the other day. There was one illuminating piece that shows why Rumsfeld will never lead anyone to victory.
"You know from experience that in every war — personally — there have been mistakes and setbacks and casualties," he said. "War is," as Clemenceau said, `A series of catastrophes that results in victory."
So put a Chickenhawk in charge of the military and his "experience" is that it takes "A series of catastrophes that results in victory."
Stay that course Rummy....
Pulleeze...your military experience is showing Rummy. Now will you listen to the experts, all the retired generals, etc. and do the right thing. RESIGN and SHUT UP! (to borrow an O'Reilly phrase.)
